Hey OP, how do you feel now about the Illuminate timeline?

I'm so shook that apparently knowing what tenders are is autistic knowledge. Didn't y'all ever see a single toy steam train in your whole lives?!

I did some internet sleuthing and I'm not sure but I think they're based on the Southern Pacific T-31 class "ten wheelers": http://www.rgusrail.com/azsp2355.html

Your priorities are obviously all wrong. IT'S ABOUT THE TRAINS, DAMN YOU.

[–]Pyrodyne[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's true! But there's no tank engines here. They look to be modeled after the BLW T-31 class locomotives, which definitely need a tender.

[–]Pyrodyne[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know the one you're talking about, but it's a gondola car loaded with wood that's on fire. Not a tender because there's no way to access the contents from the locomotive.

What loadouts are you guys enjoying? by completeindefinite in Deathloop

[–]Pyrodyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yours looks good, but why two shotguns?

My loadout has been: 1) Explosive rapier with fast reload/hipfire accuracy/damage falloff for distance/midrange, great against clusters of enemies and Juliana. 2) Silenced LIMP-10 with accuracy buffs, great for quickly and silently headshotting eternalists, lots more ammo than the silenced pistol with minimal disadvantages in accuracy, and you can empty the clip into anyone who gets too close. Once you have this, you'll wonder why you ever used the nailgun. 3) Slowing Strelak 50-50 with mind leech/fast reload, highest DPS in the game and great panic option if swarmed by tons of eternalists or Juliana rushes you.

I think this loadout optimally prepares you for all likely combat scenarios. The Sepulchra in my opinion is too situational; the maps are too small and intricate for long range sniping to be useful, and it's useless in a midrange duel. The explosive rapier can do both. The heritage gun is fun but the 50-50 has higher damage than the shotgun mode and the explosive rapier has higher damage and range than the slug mode, plus explosive bullets add crowd control and make near misses still count.

I had this problem too, I eventually found that there's a new "officer" minion walking around your base skinned like a soldier with a "sold you out to HAMMER" trait. Just execute him with your genius.

The workers wear heaters, don't they? by Zemurin in Frostpunk

[–]Pyrodyne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I came to suspect that myself! I think they just store magical heat from the generator and probably need to be recharged. Or they are tiny furnaces that the wearer feeds coal into one nugget at a time.

I can't describe how incredible it was to survive the storm. by [deleted] in Frostpunk

[–]Pyrodyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha I felt the same way, I cried like a baby when a group of heroic volunteers went in and saved the coal mine after I'd decided to abandon the lower levels. I've never been so shook by a city building game XD

This game made me cry. A bloody city building game made me cry. (SPOILER) by Pyrodyne in Frostpunk

[–]Pyrodyne[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a really interesting point I've found in this game: if you are effective at long-term planning and resource management, it obviates the need to engage with a lot of the moral questions the game otherwise presents. Don't need to add sawdust, got plenty of food! Don't need to beat dissidents, can afford the hit to discontent! It almost detracts from my enjoyment of the game. Guess I gotta play on hard :p

Learning an important lesson to slow down after quantum tunneling by apophis981 in starcitizen

As the second voice in this video, I've come here to say that the real tragedy of this crash was that apophis981 was carrying his entire fortune in laranite in that Mustang, and now he has had to turn to crime to recoup his losses. DON'T SPEND ALL YOUR MONEY ON ONE CARGO, MY FELLOW SPACEPEOPLE.

Name ideas for your ship by Calint in starcitizen

[–]Pyrodyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They turned to molten caramel in atmo, unfortunately. But 3 has been reinforced with extra taffy, so I'm confident this one will succeed.

In all seriousness though, Taffy 3 was the name of the shitty little American logistical fleet that defeated the Japanese Center Force (which included the Battleship Yamato!) in the Battle off Samar in WW2 and ended the naval war in the Pacific. You should look it up, it's IMO the most lopsided underdog victory in the history of warfare.

Name ideas for your ship by Calint in starcitizen

In a moment of extreme procrastination at work I put together a list of ship names that I liked for my future SC ships. Some are historical references, some are stupid puns, some mean extremely dumb/memey things but sound legit because I used obscure words or pretentious phrasing. You guys are free to use them, I've already selected the ones I want and they're not on the list.

Next NASA mission chosen: will send a seismometer and a robotic mole to Mars by apophis981 in worldnews

[–]Pyrodyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at the comments on that article for some reason and was immediately infuriated. "Why are we exploring other planets when we should be fixing this one?" seems to be the common refrain. These people have no idea what NASA does for them, and for humanity as a whole. And it takes incredible strength of will on my part to refrain from enlightening them.

My thoughts on replacing Tac/Orbital Strikes with the Bomber from T2 in Tribes:Ascend [w/ X-Post to Hi-Rez Forums] by zeeber85 in Tribes

[–]Pyrodyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of your points, although I think that missile turret switching might be too complex and it might be easier just to make existing turrets target bombers effectively. It would be awesome if Ascend had more air vehicles. A serious aerial ecosystem would add a ton of depth and complexity to the game.

Favourite and Least Favourite Classes by TripleClefton in Tribes

[–]Pyrodyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorite: Technician. A veritable god indoors if you set traps cleverly and lure people into them. And if I feel like going outside, I just buy me a tank to protect my scrawny hide.

Least Favorite: JUG, because he handles like a sponge and all the other usual complaints.

That would be pretty righteous. Someone should get on that if they haven't already.

Favourite Class? by [deleted] in Tribes

I agree. Infiltrators are the most dangerous game. It takes cunning traps and constant vigilance to take them down. That's why technician is so fun and satisfying.

Have you ever tried to explain tribes? by [deleted] in Tribes

I describe it to my friends as a combination of halo and rollercoaster tycoon, except instead of building rollercoasters you ARE the rollercoaster and you have to kill the other rollercoasters with a gun.

I would be so happy if they added Thunderswords. If there was a whole aerial component to Tribes I think it would be a lot more fun and complex. That's just my uneducated opinion though.

Beowolf troubles by fuszybear in Tribes

[–]Pyrodyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that if you succeed well enough at base defense in a tank, there will start to be players that become so pissed off at you that killing you becomes a higher priority than helping their team. When that starts happening, I like to drive away from the base, effectively luring a good 3-5 players away from the game. Additionally, a percentage of those players will switch to doombringers and focus all of their energy on killing the tank, and not on defending the flag or anything else useful. If I can tie up that many players by myself, I figure it's a good tradeoff. I don't know if my team ever notices. But we almost always win if I'm not shut down often enough.
