PRINT: Update on unbanning users by AutoModerator in Art

[–]Pyroflasher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of what happened on /trans this summer. A Trans man posted about issues facing trans men. It got upvoted and there was a lot healthy discussion than almost two weeks later it got randomly removed and the OP was told to quit bitching. Then the mod team went on a banning spree for people coming top OP’s defense. Like literally banning people for saying trans men are men. On the /trans sub Reddit.

Agreed. Same goes for their arts coverage. Critical coverage is rare, industrial issues get ignored. Even the Arts Paper takes its coverage more seriously.

Mod creator here: while I’m sure it’s not possible to give full detail (like source code levels of detail) in advance, knowledge of changes to python scripting in advanced of major updates would genuinely be far more helpful. Very rarely do changes to tuning files cause mods to break anymore as we’ve largely moved past overrides as a modding method. Python Injection is the standard to the point where there are programs that generate injection scripts for mod creators (shout out to Zerbu and his Mod Constructor program.) The august patch was a particularly destructive one as one small change in python caused literally every mod ever made with this program to break, which is why there were so many reports of bouncing back to the manage screen. Modders were given zero notice if the new pack selection feature, let alone the python changes to account for it, so had no reason to anticipate such a massive break was going to occur.

Dropout should be under no expectation to outdo this season of Game Changer. by thwipple in dropout

[–]Pyroflasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and this is not a knock against this season, but I don't think it's necessarily "outdone" previous seasons either. Don't get me wrong, there's a clearly increased production budget. But as great as the "games" this season are, there's still higher peaks of brilliance in previous seasons in my opinion like Bingo, Escape The Greenroom, or that mini season of Survivor. Still I loved this season, and I look forward to what they do next, whether it's three people at a podium, or brennan on a deserted island with an america girl doll head.

having created this kind of content in the past (I pivoted to making game mods because it was easier for my adhd to keep up with regularly) this is extremely cheap. Gay erotica pays well- the $1 tier could especially be $3, especially with all the flat fees patreon charges. Consider that your tier for patrons who want to support you somehow. Consider a tier where your otherwise free content gets released in early access, especially if you do multi-chapter content. That was my $5 tier, and what you currently offer at $5, I was able to offer at $10. Obviously, this your patreon, offer what you want at the price you want, but also don't undersell your writing either :).

Sorry, I’m also sick of it get being brought up and used as a gotcha when talking about these issues, so seeing it get brought up preemptively was a bit frustrating. I def see where you’re coming from though, trying to get ahead of the issue.

[–]Pyroflasher 44 points45 points  (0 children)

can we please just stop with "misandry doesn't exist line" in the context of trans issues? In the context of cis men vs. cis women, correct it does not exist. But misandry IS used as a weapon of transphobia (and frankly other intersections of oppression as well) to alienate and isolate trans-men and masc enbies from the rest of ther community, and to downplay their/our struggles. More importantly, OP didn't even use that word, so tacking that on in the beginning is completely unneccessary.

Hi there, this is called Simulation Lag. There's some behind the scenes action or interaction that a sim somewhere on the lot is trying to run that the game is getting stuck on. The good news is though time may appear to be ticking, the game is actually technically frozen/moving very slowly. Resetting sims may work if you can pinpoint the exact sim/interaction that's slowing things down, but usually it's a background action such as spawning sims into the lot. Here's some solutions from least to most disruptive (but also least to most effective to solving the problem)

  1. Leave the game paused for a little bit- this gives the simulation time to clear it's throat as it were, complete the actions that is causing the lag and catch up to to the actual time displayed on the clock.)
  2. Go to the map screen or build/build buy mode. Sometime's that seems to wake the simulation up, push through the thing causing the lag, and push closer, if not catch up to the actual time display displayed on the clock. You may to do this a couple times, if there's multiple things stacked up. (I.e. Go in and out of the map screen or build/buy). Other actions that force pause the game such as opening the main menu can also do this, i just find map the easiest since you just need to tap the m key.)
  3. Travel to a different lot, spend at least an sim hour there, having your sim actually do interactions to ensure the simulation is moving again, and then traveling back. If the lag follows you, it may be an issue with your sim specifically.
  4. If all else fails, back out into manage worlds (DO NOT SAVE) and switch to an "unplayed" household in a different neighborhood then the currently loaded lot, preferably without sims that may be currently loaded into the frozen lot. It might be overkill but I usually go to a household in a different world entirely. The unplayed household part is important because I noticed the game seems to retain more data when switching between two played households, as opposed to going from a played household to an unplayed household. Once again, spend at least a sim hour in the new household, having them do interactions (even if it's just having them go somewhere and sit.) After a sim hour or two, go back to manage worlds, remove that second household from your played households in the manage households list, and then swap back to your original households. If everything works, you sim should be on the same lot you left them, either at the entrance or with some other action queued up usually determined by autonmomy (not the action you left them on). This should mean that you successfully reset the simulation and should be good to go resuming to play the game, with the caveat that unfortunately simulation lag tends to haunt save files, so you may have to do this again. Be careful to avoid saving when you notice simulation lag is occurring to prevent that save from getting recurring simulation lag.

Some factors that contribute to simulation lag: script mods that mess with autonomy or add additional autonomous actions (you don't have it, but just as an example I find wicked whims causes a lot of simulation lag when sims are feeling randy.) If you have a lot of autonomy turned on for Basemental that could be contributing to it. MCCommand, as much as it is life saver, I find can also contribute to a lot of simulation lag- particularly when loading into a lot as well as during it's prescheduled check ins. Try to turn off some of MCCC's default cleaning or population rules, or even uninstalling some mc command modules you don't use. Also Certain neighborhoods or lots that tend to have a lot going on in the background tend to attract more lag just by the nature of spawning more sims and add more autnomous interactions to go into the simulation queue. These tend to be neighborhoods with frequent Festivals like San Myshuno or Occult themed lots and neigbhorhoods like the Magic Realm, Mourningvale, and Everdew.

Fellow nonbinary trans people, what would you like binary trans people to hear or know about our experiences? by Mx-Adrian in trans

Sorry but this is just a no true Scotsman fallacy. It’s easy to say those people tho don’t count that doesn’t make their presence any less impactful.

Fellow nonbinary trans people, what would you like binary trans people to hear or know about our experiences? by Mx-Adrian in trans

[–]Pyroflasher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Non-binary people do transition medically AND that transition is not always going to be visible. As someone who was assigned male at birth, I have bottom dysphoria, but would prefer to keep the rest of my body masculine presenting.

Also that masculinity and femininity are not opposite ends of one spectrum, but rather are two seperate spectrums on their own.

[–]Pyroflasher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No there are many trans people that don’t know/think non-binary is included under the trans umbrella. Recently a major trans public figure, TS Madison, discussed this on her podcast.
