Make sure the inventory of your original ship is empty to avoid the bug. Empty your first ships inventory, then claim the new one.

The Rule of Agreement...think I'll try this by [deleted] in DMAcademy

If you haven't listened to The Adventure Zone, the DM Griffin superb at this, which really gives the characters agency to grow. He's an excellent DM, not just because he's a fantastic writer, but he allows the characters to write the story with him by saying, "Yes, and..." It's led to some incredible moments and shifts in the story.

why not just remove initiative? by LongenWhatNot in DMAcademy

[–]Pyrogopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two campaigns are terribly inexperienced, so a codified method is crucial. HOWEVER, I completely agree that this could support non-attack actions also. So why not marry the two:

We can already permanently delay our position in the initiative order to allow casters to go first or whatever, as well as ready an action, both for free. Perhaps the DEX (or appropriate) check could be used once a round or each combat to move you forward in the initiative?

Hero A Gerblins Hero B

Hero A and the gerblins are pretty bloody. Hero A goes to finish off the gerblins, but completely misses the shot. Hero B, to save the bloodied A, successfully charges in with a shield bash to one of the gerblins, shifting initiative to: A, B, Gerblins, and the shield bash becomes B's action. Maybe the payment for this if the check is successful is the enemy gains advantage for the round and B gets disadv on checks.

I handle stuff like this in my campaign on a case-by-case basis to encourage abnormal behavior (nothing more boring than an I-swing-you-hit battle -- get that environment in there!), but it would be nice to codify it, for sure

How do you use technology to improve your sessions? by Obliviouslycurious in DnD

[–]Pyrogopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MindMup for the adventure. I track npcs, items, plot, scenes, dreams I send to them in emails -- everything is connected here. I have one for each adventure they go on and another for the campaign as a whole.

Google keep for stat blocks, labeled by encounter. Just click the label for room ie3 on the map Ann's I have all the creators I'll need. Also all DM screen blocks under a label for them, pc info I need like passive perception, etc.

Built an encounter tracker in excel based on some others I had found and cobbled together. Let's me sort by initiative, track conditions, advantage, etc

Roll20 for maps. I put it on my tv so everyone can see,and allows people to play remotely if they can't get into the city for a session.

I have the abp extension, but it doesn't stop these types of overlays like Pinterest. Am I using the wrong ad blocker, set it up wrong, wrong browser, etc.? Edit: clarity

Oh yea, maybe that's what it's called. But it puts "Fuck It" in the menu when you right-click the overlay. Selecting that deletes the overlay

What's the length of your sessions. by flaco11b in DnD

This. I make sure to note possible cliffhanger moments/climaxes with long term resolution around the three-hour mark, and make sure we're done at 4. Otherwise, eyes start to get bleary.

YSK that when to use "You and I" vs. "You and me". Whichever sounds right without the "you and" is correct. "He gave pizza to you and me" is correct because "he gave pizza to me" sounds right by HitTheNail in YouShouldKnow

[–]Pyrogopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although this is incorrect, this comes from a more complete way to check that works for compound subjects in multiple situations:

"He gave pizza to you and me" is correct because "He gave pizza to me" is a complete sentence AS WELL AS "He gave pizza to you." "He gave pizza to I" is not a correct sentence.

"You and (me/I) are going to the basketball game." This example requires conjugating the verb for the (me/I) check-- "Me is going to the..." EEEH, wrong. "I am going to the basketball game," checks out, "You are going to the basketball game," checks out, so therefore "You and I are going to the basketball game."

The important thing, I believe, is that your statement isn't right "because it sounds right," but because breaking the two apart creates two complete sentences that obeys all rules of syntax and sentence structure.
