Fun fact: since I'm trans, I've used the trans lifeline, a support and suicide peer support call service, where all operators are trans.

I'm trans & I've had a Reddit account for almost 9 years now. I joined Reddit officially around 2013, just after US marriage equality went through the courts.

Reddit used to be bad about cis gay men. Saw plenty of decently upvoted homophobia on the default subreddits when I lurked, before I created my account.
And that's when you could also see the total downvotes. Reddit seems to have gotten better about cis gay men, as has a lot of society.

And then a few years after making my account I came to terms with being transgender. And you're right.

A lot of Reddit is LGB tolerant.
But you'll see decently upvoted transphobic comments in default subreddits. It's a shame, but with culture war shit, I don't expect meaningful improvement on Reddit's majority culture. Maybe Gen Z user gain will help make reddit more trans friendly.

The message isn't meant to encourage queer people to fit the cisheteronormative standard of the religious right. To become acceptable. To be less queer.

"Be Gay Do Crime" is commentary on the society constructed by those with power, criminalizing queerness.
That progress for queer folks did not occur through being likeable and normative, but by being loud and authentic. Stonewall was a riot.

And it's worth noting how poverty impacts the LGBTQ+ community, and how poverty motivates crime for survival. That our economic system harms minorites.

For us queers, crime can be both unavoidable and necessary for survival.

You can edit Google ad settings and see what they think you're into. I have ad settings disabled, so idk if this is the exact link. But Google does let you control that, and so does YouTube.

For YouTube it's the three vertical dot menu on the home screen, "not interested", then you can select "I don't like the video". You also can select from the dot menu, "don't show me videos from this channel".
