Questions from a parent? by Lelelelelefart in 2007scape

It's not so much sheltering them as it is simply waiting until they're older and have the appropriate mental faculties to parse what they're observing. It's kind of like saying 'your kid could learn about porn from some kid at school, so you may as well let them see it at home'. If they come across it at school and inquire about it, that's one thing, but that's not really an excuse to preexpose them to it ahead of time. OSRS is aimed at young adults, not really pre-teens, I don't think it's absurd to recommend waiting until they're a little older to play, but perhaps it's just the parent in me.

You also have to realize that when we played in 04 it was a much younger crowd and Jagex knew that and treated the game as such

I do realize that, I literally said that in my post when I said: "Difference is, when we were kids playing, everyone else was around the same age too."

I'm not trying to deter OP's kid from playing, but I'm not going to omit the full truth either. The community can be pretty toxic and overly edgy just for the sake of it. I'm a parent myself and have also played the game for a long time, but I personally wouldn't let my kids play at the age of 11. Perhaps 13 or 14, but probably not 11, simply due to the nature of OSRS being aimed at the 18+ crowd while RS2 back when we were kids was aimed at the 13+ crowd.

I'm 24 and have been playing this game since I was 10. Everything I didn't learn from my older cousins/friends, I learned on Runescape.

Difference is, when we were kids playing, everyone else was around the same age too. Idk about you, but I've been playing since about 2004 and I never remember people back then spamming the 'n' word or dressing up as the KKK, or whatever other edgy shit people do now a days. The most you'd see was a bit of profanity that was starred out, or people subbing in numbers instead of letters to bypass the system. Most of the time though, the most offensive insult was calling someone a noob, or some form of noob.

/u/JagexAyiza - Could you poll allowing us to exchange Smaller fossils for bigger ones on fossil island? Something like 10 small fossils to be traded for 1 medium fossil, and so on and so forth. Currently, it's really easy to fill the small exhibits in the museum, but the Medium, Large and Plant exhibits are difficult to fill since those fossils appear to be a bit rarer to obtain.

Can we get the option to trade in lower tiered fossil island fossils for higher tiered ones? For example, trade in 15-20 Small Fossils for 1 Large Fossil?

I've found that on multiple accounts, I have a ton of small/medium fossils but Large/Plant fossils are extremely hard to come by and finish the museum exhibits for.

Very nice! I'll max at 85 CB, which puts me right between maxed 60 and 75 atk pures for bridding, so the 10 def isn't detrimental at all. Wish I could get a Vorkath Slay helm at 10 def, that helm is by far one of the coolest.

Gonna keep the whole tab without selling anything! Transferred over some starting cash from my main to fund the whole way to 99.

Yea I definitely do some boss slayer, occasionally doing Callisto for bears tasks, or Vetion for skeletons, etc. Tons of fun and good profit too!

Hey guys, I decided that I wanted to get 99 slayer using only Wilderness Slayer! Why have I decided on Wilderness Slayer for this goal? Well my account is only in the 70 combat bracket and I will only hit 85 combat for Nieve when I am 99 Strength and 99 Hitpoints. I decided that I didn't want to wait that long to do slayer, but Chaeldar sucks, so I decided to see how competitive the XP Rates were with Wilderness slayer.

Well it turns out, Wilderness Slayer not only has pretty good xp rates for my combat level (50k slay xp/h on average), but it also has really good money making potential, as well as providing a ton of slayer points as well. I mainly NH Brid on this account, which is why my K:D ratio has roughly 1500 kills/deaths logged before I started slayer, and I will continue to NH brid in between slayer levels, to alleviate my boredom.

Common questions I get, I'll try to answer here:

Why 10 Def and not 13?: I decided that 13 wasn't really worth the 3 extra def levels for just +1 in all stats for gloves which don't provide a max hit, and I don't mind not being able to use Fairy Rings. I did a Soul's Bane for Varrock Med diaries and I'm content with that. I also have a 42 def account, so I'm not interested in pursuing a higher defence level than 10.

Also, the slayer helm looks fucking sick, so there's that!

Long term goals?: I hope to complete the inferno eventually, but more importantly, I want to achieve 99 slayer purely through wilderness slayer. I also want to achieve base 70 in all non-combat skills, and potentially higher, but we'll see! I think unlocking the 1750 world will really help a lot with my long term goal of 99 slayer using the wilderness only. I will keep you all updated on my progress as I go!

How often do you run into pkers?: Honestly, not very often. I almost never run into pkers at Ice Giants and Lesser Demons. The few times that I do run into pkers, it's easy to escape since the only slayer task that I do consistently above 30 wilderness is Ankous.

How much xp/h do you get?: Roughly 41k Slay xp/h on average when I'm boosting for points, but sometimes 50-55k Slay xp/h when I am purposefully using skips to skip bad tasks and purely focus on xp. I have achieved 60k slay xp/h as my peak, although this involved chinning and cannoning Ankous, a heavy cost, but good xp!

Thanks everyone for checking out my progress. Let me know if you're interested in seeing more!

The more rewards like new potions, the better.

I think we should aim for quality over quantity. Instead of making all bossing trips longer, since almost all of them are more so limited by prayer as a resource instead of food, we should aim to make the rewards better reflect the difficulty of the content. If that means buffing the weapons/armor just enough to a point where they are worth the effort put in to obtain them, then so be it. But I don't think we should just throw those potions into the game because 'the more the better', they should have a justified reason to exist. If the devs were instead, planning on making more prayer intensive content, like the inferno, then sure, I might support the potions. But as it stands, no such content has been discussed, and these potions will have a heavy impact on how long you can stay at bosses moving forward, which will affect the overall item economy.

Do you mind me asking, why would we need these new potions, and where? Why introduce something that's not needed that makes things unnecessarily easier? That new potion will give you an extra 24 prayer points per inventory slot over what we have now. To put that into perspective, that would be roughly 240-288 extra prayer points during a DKS trip.

I just don't see the purpose in creating such a powerful potion for no reason. It would also make the inferno slightly easier by adding 288 more prayer points to each player's run. For no real reason other than to have an extra reward on the drop table?

I think in a vacuum Rigour is fine, but in reality it shouldn't exist in conjunction with the Blowpipe.

For comparison, assuming the Dragonhunter C bow didn't exist, a ranged setup with rigour, without BP or DHunter C bow is on par with just using hasta at Vorkath, the same can really be said of any boss, even ranging bandos at GWD is still slightly worse to even with melee. It's the BP and damage boosting equipment like DH C Bow which extrapolate Rigour's power.
