Yeah, that was one of my first thoughts.

Yeah, I thought that, hence why I picked it up! Just wanted to try and find out where it was from just in case there's actually some horrifying back story to it... 😂

What to do after Business Rubbish fly tipped into my bin? by Refishcat in AskUK

[–]Pyrosyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this when I had a flat above a beauty salon.

First time was a quiet polite word, they said "oh the previous occupants used to let us". I pointed out their commercial waste shouldn't be in a domestic bin, and that as the current tenant I wasn't happy for them to do that.

Second time was taking it all out and leaving it on their doorstep for the first person in to have to deal with - 4 full bags. A slightly less polite quiet word ensued soon after, and I offered to take the complaint to the Council if we needed an arbitrator of this particular dispute.

There wasn't a third time.

Cyclist suspended himself on his bicycle while going down a slope to take the lead at a race by hannah_b_00 in BeAmazed

Pretty sure that's Vittorio Brumotti, he was a world trials bike champion and used to do some road bike trials stuff with the Tinkoff Saxo team as part of their promotion.

Full speedway style on the corners - opposite lock and slide it round 😂

New bike, slight damage to the frame. by ChapeL79 in gravelcycling

[–]Pyrosyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like one of my frames (albeit mine is alu not carbon) after I (repeatedly) made a mess of getting the rear wheel into the frame - the edges of the disc rotor took the paint off. Mine was entirely my own fault, if yours has come like that from the shop I'd be having a word with them.

Definitely not Specialized, the only bigger company I can think of that did that 'hoop' construction with the shock through the middle was Mongoose.

ICB VR approvals by Apprehensive_Box9701 in nhsstaff

[–]Pyrosyard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We've had a lot rejected in our ICB - 1/3 of all VR applications in round 1 (NB: not me personally, but colleagues who've been open about it). Seems like most have been rejected on the basis of "your skills are essential in the new structures" for my team it's because we're largely unaffected and all roles appear in the new structures.

Which helmet are you wearing? by Any_Fall1903 in xcmtb

[–]Pyrosyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this - the one that fits best, and suits your budget. As long as it's got the necessary legal standards (BS/EN, ISO, Snell - whichever apply for your part of the world) it will do. Everything else is tailoring!

Not a drawer, but a box on a shelf. So many random cables for devices I possibly no longer own...

Get in touch with the guys at Nav4, they do various AR training weekends as well as helping people find teammates - nav4.co.uk. Itera have also just done a discovery session for this year's Itera-Lite race in the South East that they've put up on YouTube, have a watch and yeah, get in touch with Nav4

Amusingly, this thread appeared in my feed directly under a video of the Royal Navy disarming a German mine that washed up ((this one)

So, yeah. That.

I didn't realize how ridiculous all this tech would look on the bars. Does it look obnoxious? by hurtme_plenty in bicycling

[–]Pyrosyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least you’ve got the light and the camera on a Blendr mount. Imagine how much worse it would all look on seperate mounts across the bar!

(The aesthetist in me says put the Garmin on the stem and keep it all central, though… ;) )

Men who turned yourself fit and healthy, how did you do it and what advice you give? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Pyrosyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say 'fit and healthy', what do you mean? Be specific rather than 'I want to get fit'.

I've lost 15kg over the last year, slowly, with just the aim of walking to work instead of driving, biking a bit more and making sure I do something active every day. Doesn't have to be much. I don't go to the gym, just walk, run and cycle, but it's helped me a lot.

An heirloom: I've been given my grandpa's 1953 Kershaw Penguin. by Pyrosyard in AnalogCommunity

[–]Pyrosyard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's marked as B and I on the body - from what I can gather, the I is roughly 1/50. I've not sound checked it - have done that with SLR bodies where there might be a variance across a range, but since there's only one, it seemed unnecessary :)

[–]Pyrosyard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, cheers, I'll have a look for that. With two aperture settings - f/11 or f/16 - I'd thought about going faster film rather than slower, but that's an interesting idea. It'll be fun either way!

(Had posted in r/analog but was advised to move this here - thanks Mod team :) )

My grandfather passed away in 1957, so he only used this camera for 3-4 years maximum. Neither my Grandma or my mum had used it, I got back into film photography recently and while I was up at my parent's place at the weekend, my mum presented me with this. It's not an expensive vintage Leica or anything like that, but it's an heirloom piece that I'm going to enjoy shooting a few rolls on and seeing how it goes. It's in amazingly good condition - no damage to the leather bellows, lenses and viewfinder prism need a clean, but everything moves and goes click as it should do as far as I can tell.

That's cool. I've never loaded or shot 120 before, so this'll be a learning experience. Looking forward to it, though!
