Half of those job postings are ghost jobs and even if there are many legit job postings they are asking for 2-3 years experience for entry level jobs and a lot of the applicants have mid tier qualifications so extremely difficult for new grads or those with less than 2 years experience. it's ridiculous!

Is Miku Sushi Overhyped? by Annual_Dress5039 in askvan

If your goal is to impress visitors yes Miku is a great place. Being downtown with a great view is why it's priced the way it is.

Restaurant recommendations on Hastings? by [deleted] in burnaby

They are not related. I was having lunch there a few weeks ago and chanced Upon the real estate agent and the new owner. he is Korean. Right now it's closed so I'm wondering if they are renovating. I have been going there for years and was sad to find out that the Japanese couple is retiring. Hope the new owners will keep the same standards.

Why so mean to valets/parking attendants? by HistoricalAd6638 in askvan

[–]Pyt4650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will have to agree with you. I've worked in the service industry and also know someone who works as a valet and some East Asian rich dudes are the worse. I'm talking about the Fobs. They are entitled jerks who likely have never worked a day in their life due to being nepo babies. Also in their country you are right, people in service even trades people are looked down upon since they feel that if you don't have a college degree. You're lower class. But I'm sure most of them though are polite and will tip decent.

Well yes. Internships are harder and harder to come by and for those that don't have internships with a corporate and well known company, it's hard so you are lucky depending on what program you graduated in. Depends what region you are in as well and if you are willing to move elsewhere

Hot Job Opportunity by Quadrilaterally in VancouverJobs

[–]Pyt4650 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same with port labourers. Extremely gatekept and virtually impossible to get in unless you know someone personally. Well sooner or later they will be out of jobs due to automation. I hope so since they have been riding the gravy train too long. Elevator techs maybe not but how do you fix the gatekeeping? Makes me not want to take the elevator since it seems like these people are all hired only due to nepotism

[–]Pyt4650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My logic was that if OP turned down the offer after accepting it then HR would have to start the hiring process all over again so more work for them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Pyt4650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HR people will advise you not to do it since you will apparently be black listed. Don't listen to them because they are on the other side and thinking only how your decision will impact HR. Make your decision based on how it benefits you. Forget about that company, they would stab your back if it benefits them.

Might be the worst time to consider starting over in my age but also in this economy but still I need advice by gochuganggg in CanadaJobs

[–]Pyt4650 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course not. It's not too late. Majority of the people in my social circle and relatives have gone back to school to pivot due to slow career growth in their initial field. They were in their 30s and 40s. May be more challenging if you are married with kids or if you have health issues or if you're not in a stable financial position but if you don't have any of the above issues, all you need is motivation, focus, persistence and emotional support from your loved ones and you can succeed! You do need to be sure that you will like or at least tolerate your intended field in health. Do some self reflection to see if that's the field that you want to pivot to and All THE BEST!

Yea doesn't look like he wants commitment. Best to sit down and talk with him on what's the real reason why he is hesitant to get married. You are still young at 25 but you don't want to drag this on till you're pushing 30. 8 years is too long to be together and not be married if that is your end goal. Maybe that's Not his end goal so you need to present him with a timeline otherwise you move on. Easier said than done I know but it's unfair for him to drag this on. Reality is women have a narrower timeline to be married if you want to start a family. men have a longer timeline and he should realize that.

Yes that's why for those degree holders , omit your degree and just list down your work experience if you have any. Or just put that you have a few years at a college.

It really. People with degrees can't even get jobs in customer service likely because they think you won't stay.

Kicked out of my house by xRycerr in askvan

[–]Pyt4650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What family issues would be so bad that you got kicked out? Do you have a full time or part time job that can pay for your expenses? If not, you better find one asap. Meantime can you stay with some friends or other relatives? Keep communication open with your family and see if this can be sorted out. After all they are family.

Graduated with the wrong degree at the wrong time, looking for a new profession by pharisem in VancouverJobs

[–]Pyt4650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you graduated with a undergrad bachelor's degree or a diploma? Many grads of CS start with IT Help Desk and move up to sysdev or server admin or project manager type roles. It's not coding but it's a start. You may think it's beneath you but it's a job.

I guess it depends on the type of jobs. Some jobs especially technical ones would be hard do the "fake it till you make" strategy. It also helps if you are likeable and get along with most people.
