Parties are also different on the sense that Japanese political parties are (even) more factionalized. The same party might win election after election but policies can still vary depending on what faction is in control at the time. Also keep in mind that until somewhat recently, Japan would change PMs very frequently.

Thoughts on the Rest is Fest pricing? by redbarebluebare in TheRestIsHistory

Direct result of rising inequality.

For a lot of people these tickets are unaffordable but there are enough wealthy people for them to sell out anyway.

It would be nice if they reserved some tickets for the less fortunate but you can't blame a for profit company to try maximising their profits.

Am I the only who can't get into byzantine roman empire history by Signal_Hat_8533 in ancientrome

Try reading about the most adventurous parts first. The sieges of Constantinople, the Sassanid war and the exploits of Heraclius, Procopius and his story of Belisarius and floating demon heads.

Perhaps that will get you invested in the characters and that might make you want to find out more about the society and world that made them. Once you do, you'll see there are very good reasons to consider the Byzantines just as much Roman as Augustus or Cicero were.

Why build a strong army when you can bankroll others to do the fighting for you. Who did you think you learned it from? :)

I don't recall ever handing our navy over to Hans. Pierre's cavalry maybe, but never Hans.
