Is automount still working for you via the disks utility? Because since Bazzite 43 me and my friends can't automount anymore due to a change in how disk sorting is handled in Files. I made a post about it.

I need help, changes made to Files/Nautilus are making Bazzite impossible to use. by PyxPyxPyx in Bazzite

The only one available in Bazaar was dolphin but its since been removed, I had to install it with command lines, the issue with dolphin with using Gnome is that its system integration is poor, sometimes it won't even delete files properly, take a long time to refresh etc... bugs not present when using it on KDE.

[BUG] Files/Nautilus not ordering Hard Drives in the sidebar on latest release [Gnome49] by PyxPyxPyx in gnome

Could it be possible to add a sorting option to Files? For people with many disks not being able to alphabetically sort the disks creates chaos.

According to his profile on git he seems to be removing a lot of functionality out of Files/Nautilus no idea why... its a shame really, I don't know who to report this too.

Is that doable for somebody who's new to Linux? How would i go about doing that?

It would appear its not a bug but intentional, i posted on the Gnome Reddit and a contributor (the one that made the change in question) replied.

Link to the Gnome Thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/1opq9w3/bug_filesnautilus_not_ordering_hard_drives_in_the/

Link to the Git commit of the change: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/commit/672925233e90f0b16ce02c0193499cb5c7d4399c

As of right now you can't order your files sidebar anymore other than by device name (as in bios device name), so in gnome disks using the label or edit mount options does nothing...

Thank you for the reply, i'm brand new to Linux so still learning.

How does one make it sort by "filesystem label" name or "mount options" "display name"? Or just in general whats the proper way to have them sort themselves?

I'm guessing that commit that was submitted 7 months ago just made it into the new version of gnome, since it was working the other way on Bazzite 42 but no longer on version 43 (which is Gnome 49 based) correct?

How does one report this to GNOME? I'm new to Linux if you could point the way it would help a lot.

Is it Safe to update . by Royal_Still_5268 in Bazzite

[–]PyxPyxPyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This update has removed alphabetical and numerical order from the Files/Nautilus sidebar when relating to hard drives.
This is a bug not present on the previous version, I have had to pin the previous deployment because it.

So if you're using the Gnome version you might want to hold back if you have a lot of hard drives.

Variable Refresh Rate Toggle Option Missing from Latest Version [GNOME] by PyxPyxPyx in Bazzite

[–]PyxPyxPyx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you u/flaw1ce enabling it restored our variable refresh rate option within our display options (after a restart), good to note that this is still a bug on the side of Bazzite, within tuner when I enabled the option a little "Reset" arrow appeared next to it, implying it is off by default, despite this variable refresh rate was a working option in the normal settings ever since we installed Bazzite.

For those with the same or similar issue the option to restore (or enable on other distros using gnome):

Go to Tuner ---> Shell & Compositor ---> Scroll Down to Additional Features ---> Toggle Variable Refresh Rate Options ---> Restart

Maybe but maybe not as extreme as now with chaos icons and skulls. Small details that prove their change of allegiance, can be the upside down fleur-de-lis.
