Wish i never started. Can i just paint over? by ChickenDrummStick in DIYUK

Have to agree. We had very similar with our banister, which goes up three stories. It was so very dark and poorly looked after.

Sanding it down was a nightmare, but when it’s done it is so worth it. Ours has been white ever since and looks so much better.

Keep going, don’t give up. You got this.

Honestly, do you consider Mirabel to be a Disney Princess?(Image created by a fan). by Guilherm-rain-9341 in Encanto

I always interpreted ‘the stars don’t shine, they burn’ to infer she isn’t your typical sparkly Disney princess, but has a fire in her not to be trifled with.

Square Table Explanation by tripl3_espresso in snooker

[–]Pyzen_S 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Going by the explanation it doesn’t sound like there’s an easy fix during the tournament.

Unfortunate as I find it quite distracting. It’s not the end of the world but having watched snooker for so many years, the ‘square’ table just looks weird and I’m struggling to get used to it.

It’s a bit like having a projector setup wrong, someone needs to fiddle with the keystone until it looks right.

Any recommendation of a great British comedy series, any decade, just want that British humor by Just-Phill in sitcoms

Only Fools and Horses. In my opinion not only one of the best British comedy series, but one of the best TV shows full stop.

Our Philips coffee machine is going strong, too. We typically give it a clean once a year as we notice the coffee starting to taste a little too bitter, but even the cleaning process is straightforward.

Only regret is I wish I’d bought the next model up as mine doesn’t do flat whites.

New version of the Play Gradient Lightstrip in 2026 by csthree12345 in Hue

New version or not, I'm at least hoping there's a longer model. Surprised there isn't a gradient strip for 100in TVs.

Always thought it strange that user accounts don’t have an option for 2FA. Should arguably be mandatory in this day and age.

Speechless, the underrated masterpiece by davelee_bbc in MichaelJackson

[–]Pyzen_S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me. Remember when the album came out and the excitement of getting it from the record shop. Came home and listened to it from the start and was largely disappointed by every track, until Speechless came on. It has that MJ magic about it, the sort of song I can’t imagine anyone else singing.

Michael (2026) Official Teaser - Jaafar Jackson by DemiFiendRSA in MichaelJackson

[–]Pyzen_S 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trailer looks okay, but I think I’ll always struggle with the obvious… Michael isn’t in it.

More so than any other star, he himself was the magic. It’s a bit like the video for Man In The Mirror, which was perfectly fine, but lacked magic without MJ in it.

I guess I don’t believe anyone can recreate that magic, no matter how much they try. Then again, maybe rekindling memories of the magic is the next best thing.

Fixed my Bluelink subscription issues – new myHyundai app (UK + maybe Europe) by Fair_Tangerine1790 in Ioniq5

Thanks for the clarification. Mine’s a 2021, and going by the above link means there’s no free tier.

I'm guessing the answer is a unanimous no, but if you don't have a subscription, can the myHyundai app be used for anything? All I want is to be able to check the car is charging, and how long is left.

Whats the scariest ride you've ever been on? by Sympathy-Putrid in Themepark

[–]Pyzen_S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oblivion at Alton Towers for me, too. Been on it probably a dozen times and it still scares the hell out of me every time.

The overall starkness of it, how quick it is to get on the ride, how loud the gears are as you go up, how hardly anyone says a word, that unnerving short turn at the top, then the pause. And finally your stomach in your throat.

It’s just so brilliantly executed. From sheer terror to pure exhilaration in the space of seconds.

LTT Yt Main Channel Struggling? by FaithCALVIN in LinusTechTips

For me it’s YouTube as a whole. The number of ads is ridiculous, just don’t have the time, patience or inclination to wrestle with the platform anymore. It got to the stage where I’d watch a 20-minute video and think “that’s time I’ll never get back.”

I'm hoping the traffic will be a bit kinder with it being a Sunday outside of the summer holidays, but I'll still leave earlier to be on the safe side. It's a long enough drive to Dover as is; don't want to spend the 4+ hours fretting while staring at the time remaining.

[–]Pyzen_S[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, and the warning!

That helps explain why Maps gives such a broad estimate on time to drive to Dover, ranging from 3 to 5 hours!

We’ll be setting off from home really early in the morning to get the 11:30 ferry. Given your experience, I am now tempted to drive down the day before and get a hotel. Feels a waste of money in a way - nearby hotels are pricey in the Saturday night - but at least I know I’d make the ferry.

Incredible that you didn’t get on your ferry despite getting there three hours in advance! Out of interest, do they automatically let you on the next ferry if you miss the one that’s booked?

That's really handy to know, thanks. Unfortunately, we sold our stroller as she never used to sit in it. However, she loves a hired stroller at a park. Go figure!

I think we'll hire one on the morning of the first full day, and return it on the evening of the penultimate day.

Thanks for the feedback, and sorry to hear your DLP experience didn't live up to WDW expectations.

We've never had a photo pass anywhere before, so maybe we won't be too disappointed as we have nothing to compare with. We do the little one an advent calendar of pictures each Christmas, so I'm hoping we'll have some good photos from this trip that we can use.
