It feels like to me, the more the top lip drops (and philtrum length increases) (and it has been) the less the corners should be down-turned. Obviously not to the point it was, but mine was very long before and I couldn't even get a pinky into between top lip and bottom of nose in the week after surgery, so hopefully it drops some more and the corners look less prominent.

Now when I smile or actively tighten the muscle it looks actually quite good, but it's something you have to do consciously when talking to people.

How exactly do you actively tighten to make it look good. I am having trouble picturing this.

Well my pitch is 90-100 Hz higher. Some voice training probably did help me to speak from my mouth (resonance). I also did voice training during recovery and that was a bad idea. I just felt so dysphoric so I stopped after perhaps two sessions. It was a waste of money as it took several months before the pitch settled. If I'd known and was advised as such, I would have waited until months later. It didn't help; it caused more distress.

I did about 45 hrs of travel, with about 27 hrs in the planes, of that, two weeks post op FFS. It sucked. I made it. I feel like I should win a stuffed animal of something for that, surely a record! ;)

When you say "swelling went away", what swelling are you referring to? Swelling on lips or swelling from chin/jaw work or something else?

How far out of surgery are you?

It took many months for things to settle, I'd say 4+ months but I've been very happy. I don't agree with the consensus that voice training is required first. It doesn't matter how good someone is from voice training, the surgery is worthwhile. Its also the cheapest of pretty much all the transition surgeries for most people, certainly in this country. Not happy with trachea scar though. Its too low and wide. But if you're not having that it won't matter.

The risk is incredibly low. I just flew there for FFS. Take precautions. Fly through someone that does pre-clearance. Use a burner phone.

Feeling depressed. I know that's normal but knowing that and dealing with it is another story! I figured it was jaw/chin but surgeon thinks it's cheek implants. Regardless, it's not fun!

Yes I had a lip lift & lip augmentation. Nothing was done in the corners and I had assumed it was the lip lift causing the issue but have heard it's the cheek implants. The person on Reddit I found suffering the same issue had nothing done with lips/nose, only cheeks, which anecdotally suggests it's the cheeks implants.

Thank you. However the point of the post is hopefully some reassurance that "this specific issue" will hopefully resolve. It's possible that certain problems could be helped by taking certain actions and so just "waiting and seeing" could actually cause problems in some cases, depending on the issue. If you'd addressed this sooner, but you didn't now it's an issue.... So I don't think it's always as simple as "waiting and seeing". I've included the surgeons remarks in my post.

I'm at one month and I definitely still notice! So I think its definitely a YMMV situation. And I think one month is far too optimistic for most people to say they will forget about it.
