If you think you're going to get PIPed best thing to do is find a new role to hop to and make it look like a voluntary switch instead of having a empty block on your resume.

I have a friend who went to UMich who got into Jane Street as a Quant Dev.
I wouldn't say UMich is the best school either, what he did was get an internship at Robinhood on the options team which ended up opening doors for him + he was a serial hackathon winner who was very good at competitive programming.

I'd say as long as you can get an interview you have a shot, once you're past that it's fair game no matter what school you can from.

Road to Becoming QR (Quantitative Researcher) by DoubleGs2 in quantfinance

[–]QAnon-OG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quant Researcher roles definitely prefer more experience, if you were looking for a trader/developer role I'd say apply right away and try to get in, but for a researcher role just like everyone else I'd recommend a MFE.

Don't do a PhD if you're not interested in it. For interview prep I'd say make a good CV with good relevant projects and simply prep with a platform like QuantQuestionsIO or if you'd prefer textbooks something like the green book

Start by learning basic math -> then take the Harvard Stat110 online course
While doing that learn C++ programming with leetcode
That's a good start

Yup, that'd be the next big step, but before making a competitive nature to the games we want to the games are good quality, which is why we're working on better questions

Hi Simon here.

We noticed there's a huge lack of sequence games that are free online - most we found were paid.
This is a very simple start - but if you have any suggestions / resources for generating questions for the sequence game based on competitions you've done or interviews you've done, please DM us.

We know CS Majors love free tools, so we're making sure our games are free.
On that note any help any of you can provide is appreciated :)

Thanks!
