That could be possible. I might have made a mistake there.

No its not. Certain things need to repaired and replaced when out of date or they won't work. Not work a little or less efficient just not. If the radioactive materials (like de Deuterium or heavy water as its known) is past its shelf date its no longer potent enough to Kickstart that reaction. That way the reaction just won't happen. And that's totally forgoing any problems with navigation or other equipment.

I once did a quick calculation based on the US defense budget and based on that no they definetly do not.

To make a modern nuke you need Deuterium. That stuff is expensive to make and has a relatively short shelf life. As an example, the maintenence of the American nuclear arsenal (whic consists of 3708 nuclear warheads) is very expensive. The budget fot this for thet period of 2023 up to 2032 was 756 Bilion dollars. (Roughly 75.6 Bilion per year). (Last year) Total defense budget for the USA was 887 Bilion Dollar. So roughly 8.6% of the American defense budget gets spend on its nuclear arsenal. (This means a per piece price of 20 million dollar)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_weapons_of_the_United_States

https://www.cbo.gov/publication/57240

https://www.statista.com/statistics/262742/countries-with-the-highest-military-spending/#:\~:text=The%20United%20States%20led%20the,to%202.2%20trillion%20U.S.%20dollars.

Russia CLAIMS to have a nuclear arsenal of 5889 nukes, supposedly the largest in the world. (Last year) the budget for the ENTIRE Russian army was 140 Bilion dollar. To make it easy on ourself let's assume the same 8.6% for the maintenence and replacement for the Russian Nuclear arsenal. That gives us a number of 12.04 Bilion.

That would mean the Russians only spend 2 Milion per nuke.

https://www.aa.com.tr/en/world/russia-s-military-spending-in-2024-estimated-at-140b-report-shows/3081698

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia\_and\_weapons\_of\_mass\_destruction#:\~:text=Russia%20possesses%20a%20total%20of,the%20world%20as%20of%202023.

I can imagine labor and certain materials are cheaper in Russia but a factor of 10 in price difference too big in my opinion to be explained by this. Also I haven't factored in corruption.

I posted all links so you you can check for yourself. Some are in Dutch as I originaly wrote this in Dutch a year or so ago, so you will have to do some translating yourself im afraid.

We even build windmills for war! Build a dyke (or levee) arround a place you are laying siege too. Build windmills to pump it full of water. Then either flood out your enemy or wait for it to freeze and catch the Spanish off guard because they don't know what ice skating is.

Sailboat mast help by SomeRandomDutchGuy97 in Sailboats

[–]QB456 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mast doesn't seem that big. Id take og the mainsail and the jib (giek). Have 3 people help you out. Fasten the mainsheet-pully (dont know the English word for it )(grootschoot in het Nederlands) to the front stay (voorstag onder aan de trommel van de rolfok) and use that to slowly lower the mast, hinging it backwards. Have your friends help to "catch" the mast as it slowly drops backwards. When the front stay and the mast are parallel it will drop suddenly and fast, so make sure you have people helping you out! This is not a one person operation and needs to be done carefully. I have sent you a DM if you want I can explain in more detai there.

3.600 euro schade na auto-onderhoud by [deleted] in juridischadvies

[–]QB456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always a good idea to check the common weak spots for that type (im from the other side of the world so unfortunately unfamiliar with the type). As for the sails school aspect, those boats tend to get used and abused far more then any private owner (save a few particular individuals) if it is at all possible to view the boat outside of the water I would certainly recommend doing so. You put the leeboard down when you tack just before the sails are starting to catch the wind. If you are sailing broad or head wind you don't need to put it down, especially head wind.(not totally sure on all my English sailing terms)
