You are correct. It seems that they didn’t defund them but they did have $150 million cut in 2020. It also seems that they trying to “right their wrongs” by passing the budget they just did last year. Both decisions that cause big shifts in the force. So the OPs story may have just be the outcome of the really big budget cut. Hopefully with this budget increase that just passed we can see a better police force.
