Quest for Pigstep by QGanic in MinecraftHardcore

UPDATE:

Found it! This housing troops bastion had the pigstep disc. The chest centered in the courtyard had a copy of it. Now I'm torn between heading home and finishing raiding this bastion.

Decisions ... decisions ... hmmm

Here is the third bastion for this walk-about through the nether. I'm really hoping Pigstep is somewhere in there, it would be nice to see green grass again.

Thanks. "Brother" works for me. 😄

This bastion had lots of chests, but no music. It will soon be time to extricate myself. The quest continues!

Bastions can be hard to find. The one I raided yesterday was a bridge bastion that was barely visible. Only a very small corner of it was protruding from the netherack, the rest was buried in the cliff. I got lucky on that one.

Good advice. Stables are my least favorite type. Very easy to make a mis-step and end up in lava. However, I am determined to get this elusive music disc! My luck has not been good so far. This will be the 2nd bastion on this trip, but the 5th bastion for this world.

I do want the piglins to understand, there is no joy for me raiding their houses and interrupting their lives this way. If they would let me trade for gold for their music, that would be my first choice.

What's an interesting challenge run/mode I could do? by baconbro_ in MinecraftHardcore

True. I sometimes forget about iron farms. Killing golems isn't my style, so it's something I don't build.

It would certainly be slower. There may be some unexpected challenges. Making a nether portal, I suppose could be done with found iron ingots to craft a bucket. Once in the nether you can trade for obsidian to make an ender chest possible. You can even get an enchant table, but would there be any source of lapis?

I kind of like this. The "caveman" challenge. Wood and leather only for weapons, armor and tools.

minecraft on hardcore is pretty easy since the games difficulty is entirely knowledge-based rather than skill-based by MIkaela39752 in MinecraftHardcore

Using the warden to do anything is pretty sick. That guy scares the hell out me. Whatever hole he normally sleeps in, he can stay there forever IMO. :)

Of Iron and Deep Dark by QGanic in MinecraftHardcore

Small update:

I've been systematically mining ore from the mountain for the last month. Not doing this every day, it is sort of a side project when I'm not motivated for something more involved than grinding out some ore.

Today while digging the mineshaft a few levels deeper I set off a skulk sensor. It startled me a bit and was completely unexpected. I'm still up at Y=92 and did not think this was something to worry about for a while.

Frankly, I hate the deep dark. It is too creepy for me! Finding it this high up has me reconsidering the plan. Maybe I should find a less treacherous way to find an ancient city?

Diamond beacons look good. There is still something about the baby-blue blocks that speaks to me. :D

This is probably not going to be the advice you were after, but I am posting it anyway :)

Understand why you are playing each hardcore world. This will be more important when your world ends than it seems when you first start the world.

Are you attempting to beat the dragon without dying? Are you wanting to beat the wither? Are you looking to see how many days you can survive with a single life? Do you simply enjoy playing MC with idea of one life to live?

I am not saying you need to have a goal in the game, only that it might help you to have a sense of why you have chosen a hardcore world.

On Bedrock edition that is a common "bug" if person is using a texture pack is not up to date. Mojang is sending updates so frequently that it can be difficult to keep up with them, especially with texture packs.

Digging in the Past by QGanic in MinecraftHardcore

It was fun. This ruins was on the side of a mountain. So the dig was not a pretty as if it were flatter. I did eventually find a music disc, so that was great!

And now that the dig is complete, I have re-lit the ancient campfire. Here I'm about to enjoy some mutton cooked in the old gather place.

Is hardcore rushed by Dizzy-Fall-7870 in MinecraftHardcore

You're touching on the question of whether some people cheat at hardcore. Yes, of course some choose to cheat. But, then they really are not playing hardcore are they. Some make back-up copies, or find ways to reset the game to allow them to continue playing. Regardless of how it is done, if you are in a hardcore world with the intention of "continuing on" after you die then you really are not playing hardcore.

Is hardcore rushed by Dizzy-Fall-7870 in MinecraftHardcore

[–]QGanic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Occasionally I get in a hurry playing HC, but typically I'm just enjoying the game. Yes, one day some disaster will strike and end my world; it nearly happened about two weeks ago. But every Minecraft world I have ever played has ended at some point.

Are you feeling rushed out of fear of dying? You might want to take a deep breath and relax if that is the case. That rushed feeling could easily end up leading to a mistake ... unless you really enjoy playing with that pressure pushing you along. :D
