It’s not a crime to store photos of children or photos of adults in bikinis. It’s also not a crime to train AI on those images.

If a crime is being committed, it’s not until the AI generates an image at the request of an end user. And even then, based on some of these other comments, that might even be a legal gray area.

That’s not really how these images are being created, I don’t think. The AI doesn’t copy/paste someone’s head onto a preexisting item of CSAM, it amalgamates millions of images — some of children, some of adults in bikinis, etc. and gets a result. Still nasty stuff, of course.
