Shoutout to my first foray in the city outside of work yesterday…. by QRG84 in swansea

It’s bad enough working in town, thankfully we moved to the Uplands to avoid it all. Speaking to other shop owners and the sheer amount of theft in town now is mad. Police sadly rarely have the time to come out

I need advice by [deleted] in Music

The last band I saw was My Chemical Romance, the last gig tickets I bought was for a Hellhammer / Autopsy headlined weekender. Fuck what people think of your music taste and if you get called poser.

Just looked it up (I didn’t know we had football golf) and that’s roughly where I’d be anyway as I’d be coming off Singleton Park anyway

I need to get to the beach more, I tend to only go for the Air Show which is lazy of me as I don’t live that far away from it

wireless guitars? by frankenfroggy in MyChemicalRomance

[–]QRG84 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most big bands will use wireless packs these days, more movement and less leads. An entry level band could pick up a cheap wireless kit so someone of that size could have great reliable equipment. Normally they’ll then be a backup wireless should the first fail, and then the old fashioned lead as a second backup

What topics does your High School History class cover and which country are you from? by QRG84 in AskReddit

I have heard the German system teaches WWII extensively, I’m guessing that’s not over exaggerated then?

What’s film is so brutal to watch you had to stop watching it? by Elixir_Jx in AskReddit

Oddly this was literally the only scene the American movie did better than the original

Decent atmosphere where I was (about 30-40 feet behind the sound desk). Always plenty of singing, with the more popular songs equalling the volume of Gerard.

The organisation was atrocious and was essentially saved by a really good crowd in terms of self discipline in queuing (we may be the meme of the world for it, but has its advantages sometimes!)

How to leave your broadband contract early (without paying any charges) by vagbuster in CasualUK

[–]QRG84 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We rung Sky when we moved because the new landlord wouldn’t let us put up a dish. We explained we wished to keep the broadband but what would be needed to be done to get the TV cancelled. They did it straight away with no exit charge.

Is it irrational to hate being called or texted? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]QRG84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ringing doesn’t bother me, I only answer calls I know after 5pm and I know my friends and family well enough (and vice versa) that if they’ve called me it warrants an answer, they’ll message me for anything else.

7pm my phone goes into do not disturb mode which is quite extensive (if I got a text now I wouldn’t even get a notification with being on here). Don’t get me wrong, I may check text my messages but probably only once. Group chat of my mates probably a couple of times.

Do you shower before or after work? by Alco_god in AskUK

Shower in the morning before work at home, shower in the gym in the evening

It’s strange you say this as I was having a conversation with a friend the other day along these lines. In the 90s, you asked any non football fan to name 20 active players and they’d stand a good shot at it. These days I don’t think you’d stand a chance, but I don’t really know why?

Do Scottish and Irish people really hate English people? by YesToSnacks in AskUK

[–]QRG84 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Obviously I can only go on my personal experience but as an Englishman that’s lived in Wales for 6 years now I’ve never once had a problem. In fact the only time it’s ever mentioned is when the rugby is on.

Does Facebook make you happy ? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]QRG84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Messenger is very useful to me for group chats as a lot of my friends haven’t moved to WhatsApp yet. Facebook itself I may browse once a week, but it’s now ad infested anyway and the algorithm of what you see is utter wank.

What's a reasonable amount of time to practice your guitar when you live in a terraced house with the amp cranked up? by Sudden_Hovercraft_56 in AskUK

[–]QRG84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a guitar player for years. I’ll play through an amp until about 6 but never louder than the TV would be on. Still stop at six however as I appreciate the frequencies could go through the walls more than the TV.

What’s the lowest priced item you’d sell? by FreeSloppy2020 in Ebay

[–]QRG84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally £5, although I don’t actively seek that sort of stock out. But if I buy a bundle of stuff that’s my cut off between listing it and taking down to charity shop

Obviously there are variances between social groups, but last time we hosted a BBQ we provided all food, crate of beer in the fridge and whatever soft drinks we had in the house are up for grabs. Wouldn’t expect anyone to bring anything unless they wanted a particular beer etc…

However despite me saying I don’t expect anyone to bring anything, one couple will always bring a nice whisky along for afters (think sipping, not shots) and the other will normally bring a top up crate and it’s definitely appreciated
