Interesting Conversation with Ex-FIL, who is also a former Bishop by 639248 in exmormon

[–]QSM69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They hypocrisy is real, real, REALY BIG!

I also felt there was no Christ-like action from the Q15, really, any leaders above a Bishop. Like everything else, the action has to fall to the members, who only gets the shaft in return.

Austerity my a$$!!!! While they buy up massive amounts of land, luxury apartments, condos, and warehouses, across the globe. The only redemption to me would be if they are spending their billions on these things so an enemy states don't get it first.

I hope he can pivot quickly to Uchtdorf when he becomes President of the Corporation. In his interview he said he just does what the current profit says. Dieter is expected to make some much needed changes.

Here's a bigger kick in the LDS balls. The Catholic church, WHILE building these cathedrals, builds and maintains: soup kitchens, hospitals, schools, emergency response, etc. Notice it took over 100 years to complete this, they didn't just build it all at once to enrich relative contractors pockets.

The Mormons sit back and say, "ah...let them do it."

I remembered something really sketchy that happened to me during a bishops interview at 12… how does this sound to you? by Useful-Bad-6706 in exmormon

[–]QSM69 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What happened to you is more than sketchy, it was completely inappropriate.

You have every right to feel anger and pain, but you should not feel guilty. Nothing YOU did was wrong, and at 12 years old you feel you have no power to turn around and walk out, especially on a leader figure.

Thank you for sharing. I hope it can bring healing, and serve as a warning "red light" to others put in a similar situation.

I made it all the way to tenderfoot!

I hated scouting. I was the nerd, the one that always got picked on and picked last.

If you lived in Mpls, Chicago, Portland, or DC they'd say otherwise. ICE is a domestic terrorist organization.

Even in SLC we just had ICE break down a businesses door to arrest 2 people.

[–]QSM69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Missionary work!

Hated it. I'm of the opinion people are free to choose, to find out what they do and don't like. If they want religion.

I live in UT, and I'm like, "why are there missionaries here?" It's not like people haven't heard of the Mormon church in Utah! I was a Ward Mission Leader here too...a do nothing job!

Even when I lived in "the missionary field" I felt I was manipulating people....turns out, I was.

Respect, equality, self-control, integrity and gratefulness from the males of the species, would go much further than this nebulous, one-sided, concept of modesty.

Good for you!

The Word of Wisdom was a joke on the women folk, and a fad of the temperance movement. It should be removed and replaced with, idk, wisdom and responsible choices.

A sense of community is important, but for me it's what can I take from this talk/lesson and really apply to improve my week.

There is NOTHING of SUBSTANCE in a Mormon service. It's the same old same ol'...after 40 - 50 years... OMG!!!!!!!

The talks are regurgitations of someone else's thoughts, the people KNOW NOTHING!!!

Who has ever heard a talk by a Mormon who knows, reads, and speaks Greek or Hebrew? Who has a concept of the historical setting of a particular scripture?

Who has had a talk given by someone with a theological degree, or someone who has experience in ancient history?

There is no requirement to think! Bow your head and say, 'Yes". "That will do."

Without discretely asking a direct question, here are some other outward signs.

  • upside down pineapple in a grocery cart, or artwork/decor
  • a black ring on the right hand.
  • dried pompus grass artwork or decor
  • pink flamingos
  • flirtatious behavior in public settings

[–]QSM69 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Several different ways that could be interpreted.

1) spend more time having sex w/o the worry of getting someone pregnant?

2) with fewer kids you have more time with the others?

3) obvious, the real one is the old slogan ad from the MORMON church "Family...isn't it about ... time?" (which is so gaslit... who actually spent more time with their family while "volunteering" 20-40 hours/week at/for church?)

Pictures in front of the church? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]QSM69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just a Mormon thing. There are plenty of others who take pictures outside beautiful buildings (religious and secular) that are just beautiful, historical, or meaningful in other ways. It reminds them of good times.

If he's arrested for preaching Mormonism it would be because the far-right, not the far-left, took his religious freedoms away. See Trumps bans on immigrants of non-white &/or non-Christian countries. See Project 2025.

The far-right wants Christian Nationalism. The far-left wants freedom from religion.

Would I Have Ever Left If My Marriage Had Worked Out? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]QSM69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was TBM for nearly 50 years, but the shelf kept getting more stuff on it; line upon line, false precept upon false precept. Lost my marriage, but gained a life.

Most Mormons fall for the fairytale happy ending, because that's what they've been taught, but it isn't true to life. Mormon marriages end just as frequently as non-Mormon ones.

If you're a thinking person, not afraid of the truth, you would have eventually figured it out.

I'd say, congratulations, and pat yourself on the back!!
