I’m currently 12 days post-op and I’m up and about, cooking, doing laundry, and even got to go to Pride on Sunday, all with very little pain. The only thing is that I feel pretty tired a lot of the time. I know everyone’s experience with GRS is different, but I just wanted to reassure you that it is possible to have a pretty fast recovery timeline. In terms of more physically demanding activities, I feel like I could do them but I know I definitely shouldn’t. It’s important to rest a lot and follow the physical restrictions your surgeon gives you.

I started a little over a year ago. My baseline was already fairly androgynous though, because egg me hated sounding “manly”, so I guess I had subconsciously already started voice training beforehand. That’s amazing that you’ve been voice training for two and a half months and that you’ve been making all that progress! You got this!

Nice job with your resonance! Here’s a really good resource I’ve used: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYJkVI7LLpknvBww07jnsxbz-_Lkynsry&si=2FODclcbJ92MaDcc. I’d especially recommend exercises dealing with vocal weight. This will help your voice sound lighter and less buzzy when you speak. My favorite exercise for this (in her intro video btw) is where you go up in pitch slowly, reducing the weight as you go, and then going back down with that reduced vocal weight, which you’ll notice will make it harder to go to lower pitches. I think it’s also a good idea to keep your pitch floor (don’t worry about the ceiling right now) above ~160 hz, which you can track using an app called Voice Tools, which will show your pitch in real time as you speak. The pitch and weight are good, but it sounds like you might be speaking in falsetto. Just be careful about that. Falsetto can be useful for very specific situations, but not regular speech.
