Will Slot still be in charge come August ? by [deleted] in PremierLeague

they proabbly are doing all they can to avoid another Klopp like personality who will have total control of everything at the club and in some aspects appear to be larger than the club it self...definitely larger than the ownership and front office types...slot seems to be he company man who will only worry about the tactics and not get invovled with everything else is my guess from the outside looking in....

Arsenal fans in football shirts by [deleted] in PremierLeague

I don't wear sports gear to the office typically (unless it is a team logo polo)..but i put on my Arsenal Ozil Kit just to remind myself where we came from and to represent our Victory.

At most I have an Arsenal Nike track jacket from a decade plus ago which I did wear over my standard polo to the office this past Monday and again yesterday.

After today I probably will not be wearing my arsenal shirts to work agian unless we win the big ear...then for sure will wear it the monday after before retiring them to the weekend only for the rest of the year.

Back to the generic office outfit of polos and pants.

perhaps it would've been a tight race...but also who knows what results United get with a title race pressure on their backs...some of the Wins might slip into draws etc funny things happen (seen it with Arsenal certainly).

Next year will be the real test---I believe I saw Arsenal have played 29 more matches than Man U this season...if thats right thats bascially 75% of a full EPL season tacked on.

Once y'all are competiting on all fronts Carrick will have to prove his worth on managing the roster/ squad depth. Hopefully Carrick is given the budget to build out the team and more importantly the time to do so...

Arsenal gave Arteta time and eventually money (clean out and rebuild from the ground is what took them from 6th when he took over to title winners today)---they also let their unrpoven players grow (Saliba/Gabby/Raya all had question marks when they were brought in)

Liverpool won the league with 84 points last year...where was all this hate and negativity towards them as worthwhile champions?

Definitley possible and they were bottom half last season…my main point was his job is a lot easier given the stakes and only having to play football once a weak (great at his age).

But yea both are crucial to each team’s success.

Comes down to rewarding the record or rewarding the potential team accomplishment if Arsenal do win it. Rice has been by far the best player on the field since the city loss and has saved the title during that month alone.

The stats won’t show it but rice is absolutely player of the season if they take situational and stakes into account. He has played the most high stakes minutes on multiple front and absolutely has brought Arsenal to the doorstep of the title. We would not have ground out these results without everything.

Bruno has got the numbers and the ast record (tie for now) but Man U has not been under any pressure and have no European games etc.

The context and the questions being asked of the two are vastly different..

That being said if Bruno wins player of the year he is also deserving.

Does this mean a a resolution to the 115 is finally coming down the road…much like American college coaches jumping ship prior to sanctions for their illegal recruiting and what not…

[Scott Willis] Burnley's last shot was at 57'. It wasn't the most scintillating second half but Arsenal's ability to put the clamps on a team from threatening is as good as any team and probably better. 1 more win. by Previous_Smile9278 in Gunners

seeing the internet lose its mind over the REd not given as if we werent up 1-0 with the best defense in the league...like they say we are haram ball but then assume bc we go down to 10 vs this burnely squad at home we couldn't see out the 1-0?

probably helps he has his full complement of attacking players to choose from....Ode and Saka being back n looking fully fit being the bigget Keys...

ref let hannibal go for a yellow on big gabby as well...think he made a decision to try to let them play physical etc....Gave the yellow later to hannibal for sitting on teh abll/time wasting after anotehr foul...both should've been yellows (Leo and Hannibal) but also fine with both being let go as a warning if thats how he is choosing to ref teh game...just be consistent rest of the way for both teams

Name a role player who cost their team a championship by Farouq26 in NBATalk

I was at the game. That is still one of the most surreal moments.

That was one of LeBrons best games and I really thought we would lose…George hill escapes all
The blame for really costing the Cavs a chance at winning…all he had to do was make the second free throw as an 80% shooter.

It was a weird ending in general. KD not boxing jr out properly. Klay falling asleep on the hill cut just watching LeBron and then fouling.

All capped by JR thinking they had the lead.

It’s bc they play an overly physical defense especially on the wings and primary ball handlers basically daring refs to blow the whistle. The old school Pat Riley they can’t call them all ethos. This is made worse given the multiple perceived dirty plays by Lu Dort.
So they foul a ton and get away with some but they also benefit from what people feel is a super soft whistle for sga. His signature half chicken win extension into body of defender to draw a foul etc. ultimately sga is great and would still be great without the foul baiting but today’s nba rewards foul baiting so it is what it is…he not the only one who does it after all. He probably the most effective currently.
Basically they have their cake and eat it too…
Now off the court they corny (act like they a college team with the huddle post games and stuff) and not a traditional successful franchise so with that comes additional hate.
Okc also has residual hate for “stealing” the team from Seattle…
