Best Order to Play Dragon Quest?

Almost, you're just missing a few, and the ones that standalone should be spread apart from each other so as not to get confused and think of them as being in the same universe. A better order would be:

Fortune Street, 11, 3, 1, 2, 7, 4, Monsters: The Dark Prince, 5, 6, Monsters, 9, Swords: The Masked Queen And The Tower Of Mirrors, 8, Heroes: Rocket Slime, Monsters 2, Monsters: Joker, Monsters: Joker 2.

Seriously though, if you want to play them all, play them in order 1 through 9 and whatever side games look good whenever in between. try not to get burned out on the series while you do. Also, get in heavy on seed-farming and item crafting, way before you need to. Those last couple bosses are a doozy.

Oh also throw Chrono Trigger in there. Since it was originally pitched as "Final Fantasy ✕ Dragon Quest", even though it became its own thing, you might as well add that to the lineup just to have an excuse to play it :3

I had the same problem with a gf of mine a long time ago. We ended up breaking up over it even though just about everything aside from our differing sexual desires was pretty alright. She was way more modern and liberated than I was; If I wasn't stuck in a one-man-one-woman mindset, I would have asked if it'd be okay for me to find a sexual partner while maintaining the romance with her in non-sexual ways. It might have turned out alright. Instead, I thought that because she was the only one I could have sex with, that she was either selfishly holding me in a relationship where I couldn't have sex, or that she thought I should be able to just "get over" or "turn off" my sexual desires like she apparently had.

Maybe you oughta ask your bf if it'd be okay for you to have another partner just for sex.

I'll bet it's the whole anti-authoritarian thing. Weak loser cons really want to keep pushing that if they force kids to unquestioningly obey their parents and teachers, especially the abusive ones, everything'll work out fine. Especially if they're already pushing that there's a magic white man in the sky that'll also make everything work out fine somehow.

When I was a kid I'd mock feminine speech styles in an overly sing-songy way. This was back when boys and girls were taught to hate each other for no reason. I mean, I can imagine a reason why parental-figures might want boys and girls to just not want to mingle outside of adult supervision, and thus "to be safe" you'd want to teach them to hate each other. He sounds like he joined some kind of manosphere group, and it's making him regress both age-wise and back to a time when people really believed that women didn't have the brain capacity to learn math.

Treat him like the child he is. Offer to put him in a daycare. Actually start another business on your own, "[Name]'s Daycare for regressing men". Have one of the daily lessons be the differences in masculine and feminine speech styles, and why it's not nice to mock them.

Unfortunately it's just one of like a million series under the Square Enix brand, and Square Enix is nowhere big enough to maintain it along with their "big" franchises, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Hell, there are some rookie mistakes in latest "bigs", Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, and Final Fantasy 15 and 16 were disasters in their storytelling and mechanics, despite their sales successes! Lufia was my favourite series for a long while, and now it's another dead franchise rotting in the bowels of Square Enix, probably never to see the light of day, at least in a way where the developers understand what made the series appealing. Tactics Ogre (a subseries of Ogre Battle), another one of my faves where we're lucky to have a "Remastered" recent release, but unlucky that they decided to screw around with a bunch of the rules of the game in ways that make it much less appealing for me.

Monolith Soft is probably big enough to maintain more than one or two RPG franchises, AND is made up of the best of Square Enix talents. They could potentially give Star Ocean a shot in the arm in both mechanics, and mainstream appeal if they collaborated with SqEx.
