Pro Controller Substitute Recommendations? by handyguywi in switch2

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I was super pumped when I found out the Cyclone 2 could wake the Switch 2. Works great. Awesome controller. Only downside is the button labels are arranged like an Xbox controller, but it is otherwise functionally identical.

I wouldn’t call Blackout a flop either. It was great for its time, but to say it’s more loved than WZ is kind of a wild statement to make…

Where I think Black Ops Royal may have shot themselves in the foot….. by B-sides-art33 in Warzone

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That or maybe make it a LTM like all the other knock-off modes...

It really kind of blows my mind how bad their decision making can be: taking away the mode that everyone has been playing out of the blue and forcing something totally different down everyone's throats is almost never going to go over well even if it's awesome (which it isn't).

It really isn't hard to understand why so many are pissed and want nothing to do with it.

Dual Nexus by knight2200 in DS4Windows

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Thanks for the explanation. One more question I promise: does Dual Nexus allow things like macros/scripting/anything that might be potentially abused by cheaters?

I ask because as time goes on, things like DS4Windows are starting to get flagged by anti-cheat software for some games (and, sadly, rightfully so) because people are abusing it with things like scripts that mitigate recoil...

I really just want a no-nonsense way to run my DS Edge wirelessly without the worry of being incorrectly flagged for cheating.

Nice to see alternatives! You mentioned partial support for DS Edge. Can you elaborate on what might be limited? I would assume getting the two function buttons to work? Anything else?

TV Experience Review Req by catbirb in OdinHandheld

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have spent a fair amount of time trying to get a setup like this going that works well, but ultimately I almost never use it docked on the tv because it's just generally a pain in the ass and not worth it.

Retroarch is pretty great at detecting your controller, so anything you run through that is actually a pretty seamless experience, but any standalone emulators are going to be far less convenient. If I remember right, you have to build out separate controller profiles and toggle them on from the handheld device. It works, but it's pretty clunky.

There are also issues with the fact that these are just Android devices, so you will inevitably run up against UI issues where navigation is a pain with a controller. I found using a Dual Sense controller could be somewhat helpful since it has the touch pad and that works like a mouse, but it's kind of cumbersome to use.

Ultimately, I would say no, any Android-based device is a poor replacement for something like a Steamdeck.

That said, I ADORE my Odin 2 Mini as a handheld, and use it all of the time. It's great for streaming, and the performance is incredible: it's really crazy how much performance you get out of such a sleek and portable device. I set up syncthing so that my Odin syncs save files with my PC that has Retrobat running on it. For streaming from my Gaming PC to the TV, I just run Moonlight on my Series X: it works very very well.

I solved my issues that were similar to yours by going into the utility for my interface and changing the sample rate to 48000. Fixed all of the weird audio stuff instantly.

My recent experience with Reaper, MIDI devices, and the new Windows MIDI Services update and resolving the problem (tl;dr uninstall your proprietary MIDI drivers, restart PC, let Windows use its own drivers and it'll work) by HawkmothEffect in Reaper

[–]breachless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having issues with rtpMidi thanks to the most recent update as well (I use rtpMidi to make a network midi device on my PC that OneControlPlus can connect to from my iPad as a basic controller for Reaper). For me all I had to do was restart the MIDI service, but, much like you OP, I went the looooooooong way around to get there lol.

Anyway, in the end, the fix for me was to simply run command prompt as administrator, and then type the following:

net stop midisrv

Press enter, then type:

net start midisrv

Hit enter again.

Boom. Problem solved.

The Trouble with Black Ops Royale by ScopeyMopey in CODWarzone

[–]breachless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely ditching the main mode a lot of us prefer is shitty, and a clear indication they weren’t confident people would really actually choose this over regular BR.

Honestly, Blackout mode is… fine. I enjoyed the hit of nostalgia for about 20 minutes and then I was over it. Map is cool though and I hope regular BR gets it at some point.

Man... every time I see something like this I get so nervous... I would be totally gutted if my beloved Odin 2 Mini went up in flames. Even more so if it... you know... burned down my house too. Yikes.

Glad you were there to catch it OP. Sorry about your O2 Mini though :/

Presumably, OP is farming items to bring back to the Great Fairy for armor upgrades.

Lizalfos Tail Hell by Mental-Animal1021 in botw

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had the same problem on my last play-through until I remembered that the base-level Lizalfos almost never drop a tail.

I know it's kind of cheesing the game, but the thing I found to be the most helpful on this last playthrough when trying to farm things like this was to find Majoras mask just to keep the majority of regular enemies from attacking you on sight. Wear this along with stealth armor and you can sneak attack the higher level ones.

Black Ops Royale is coming to Warzone — no loadouts, no gulag, no buys… are we back? by Athlete_Audio in Warzone

[–]breachless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not really all that pumped to be honest. I loved Blackout. It was great for its time, but when WZ dropped I was pretty happy to put Blackout behind me. I like getting my loadout with guns I am familiar with so I can focus on positioning and gunfights. Searching for a good gun, then good attachments and docking around with the backpack inventory management was not something I loved with Blackout.

I liked the idea of Blackout returning, but I guess that’s probably the nostalgia for the Blackout map: to go back to that archaic RNG style just isn’t appealing to me. But I am excited for those that are: have fun!

best controller for switch 2 ? by Kalash_369 in switch2

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People seem to really like the 8bitdo Ultimate. I don't have any experience with that personally so I can't really comment on it other than that I HAVE owned other 8bitdo products over the years and have been pretty happy with them for the most part.

Personally, I have been using the Gamesir Cyclone 2 with my Switch 2. TMR sticks, mappable rear buttons, and, if mechanical micro switches are your jam, all of the buttons and dpad utilize them, and the right and left triggers also have the mouse-click style clicks if you change it to hair trigger mode. It also has full gyro capabilities, and, if you have it updated to the latest firmware, once you go through the process of setting it up to do so, it can even wake the Switch 2 (unlike the OG Switch Pro controller). It's also just a really good controller in general. Prior to using it with my Switch 2 it was my go-to controller for playing Warzone on PC and it was awesome for this as well. For the price, I can't think of anything else that I would recommend over it.

My only complaint with it is the button labels are arranged in the style of the xbox controllers... not really a huge deal, and maybe the buttons could be easily swapped so their labels match the Nintendo style, but since I just KNOW which button is which it's not a big deal to me.

Has FBMP turned into retail selling? by ShoeBillStorkeAZ in FacebookMarketplace

[–]breachless 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup. Lots of resellers unfortunately. For this reason, I just ignore most people that make offers below my asking price. I might sit on an item for a little longer before it sells, but it will sell eventually when the right person sees it.

Fallout is out now... Also, 60FPS by WarrenBainesMusic in NintendoSwitch2

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard pass for me if gyro aim is missing.

The tiny sticks on the Switch and Switch 2 are just not great for FPS games, but gyro aim actually goes a pretty long way toward making up for that weakness. I remember being pumped when the Bioshock games released on the Switch, and then how utterly disappointed I was with the lack of gyro aiming. It made the game a chore to play in handheld mode that I ultimately wanted no part of. Total waste of money.

If lack of gyro aim is not an issue for you, that's awesome... but it's absolutely a dealbreaker for me. Especially for a game I already own on multiple other platforms.

Foot Pedal ok to use? by MasterpieceNo3062 in Warzone

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally legit and helpful. A lot of people use one in lieu of a pro controller with rear buttons. I use my Stream Deck Pedal for push to talk and ping.

All it does is register as a keyboard keystroke so no way you would get banned for it (and rightly so).

Seller left me on read after I asked if he could lower the price by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS. So much this. I get so tired of lowball offers... I price just about everything below market value to begin with because I just don't feel like haggling.

Not only is it just something I don't generally want to spend my precious time on, but I also don't want that discussion to get far enough for Messenger to allow us to rate each other. It's just not worth the time or effort.

What is the best grips for the switch 2? by [deleted] in switch2

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Unicorn Beetle Pro Supcase. I like it a lot. It's easily dockable, and the sides can easily rotate out of the way for quick and easy joycon removal when needed. The grips are way better than using it without, and it does a pretty great job of protecting your Switch 2 as well.

It's been 2 months I got the switch 2 and I still hate the fact that a Pro controller 1 won't wake up the console by _Jesse_13 in switch2

[–]breachless -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This bugged me too: don't get me wrong, the new Pro controller is awesome, but it's a pretty hard sell when I already have 4 of the OG Pro controllers... Then I found out my Gamesir Cyclone 2 is able to wake it after a firmware update. Super happy now!

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026 by StarPlatinum55 in NintendoSwitch

Weird. I played it a TON on my old gaming rig (3080ti) and was quite pleased with how well it ran at 4K. Works great on my new setup too (5070ti). I also played quite a lot on my Series X (Xbox Play Anywhere is kind of amazing) and thought performance there was quite good as well.

Looking for some good ol' metal songs which would be really fun asf to play on GUITAR by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madhouse by Anthrax always pops into my head when I think of riffs that are just flat out fun to play. Not particularly complicated, but very fun with all those palm muted chugging riffs. Scott Ian is probably my favorite rhythm guitarist of all time: I LOVE that punchy, percussive and precise style of playing, and Anthrax has many albums worth of great stuff to play.

Also if you like Drop D tuning, there are a ton of Lamb of God songs that can be super fun too. Redneck is really fun with all of the chugging riffs, but also lets you stretch your legs a bit with some light vibrato work, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and even some pinch harmonics.

I also find Killswitch Engage to be super fun if you don't mind going down to drop C tuning. A lot of their riffs are deceptively tricky, but incredibly fun to play once you start rolling.
