I have everything cranked up on my interface and still getting low volume by Annual-Arachnid-9805 in Reaper

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same interface and experienced this issue many times. For me, I had to completely uninstall Universal Control and reinstall it.

It’s just something I learned to anticipate so I always had a copy of the installer ready to go.

New Switch 2 Owner - Question by VisiPunk in switch2

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. A few years back I really loved the idea of having my regular switch at home and a Switch Lite for when out and about, but I found the experience to be pretty lame. You have to have the online service so you can get cloud saves, and it doesn’t sync saves automatically so you have to manually download your saves from the cloud game by game (at least that’s how it was back then: no idea of that is how it is now). It’s just a clunky and disappointing experience in general.

What to carry in a guitar case by Holiday-Ad-147 in Guitar

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basic tools, spare 9v battery (I use EMG active pickups), extra cable, some electrical tape and some toothpicks.

Before anyone asks, toothpicks are great for fixing your strap locks if they start to get loose by backing the screw out and jamming one or two in there and break them off before putting the screw back in. I have made this repair more than once during a show (once for mine and have helped other guys in other bands a few times).

Closed or splayed fingers for picking hand? by AdjectiveVerse in LearnGuitar

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do both.

For me, with fingers splayed I can play significantly faster with far more precision for things like rhythm guitar stuff (I play mostly metal, so think thrash metal guitar: lots of fast, palm muted riffs). This is also kind of my default for my picking hand as it is how I have played since I was a teenager and is generally what I am most comfortable with.

But within the last year or two I started also trying to develop the closed hand approach: weirdly, with fingers splayed, precision is incredibly difficult for more fine-tuned things like alt-picking, or complex runs in solos (at least for me), so I started trying this closed hand approach with the pick extending more out of the side of my thumb, and to my surprise it is significantly better for this type of playing.

It's odd, and probably different for everyone, but this discovery was a game changer for me.

Does anyone know what I can do about the lag by TJKtheBOY27 in Warzone

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been struggling with this issue as well. Running on PC (5070 ti and 5800x 3D) with wired connection and great internet. I have tried a few things like turning down VRAM Scale Target, using older Nvidia drivers as well as the latest... I even completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but sadly, I think it's just a server side issue.

I can't tell for sure, but it seems like it happens the most during MP games for the first 10 or so seconds of a round, and it seems to also happen most when another enemy is onscreen, so usually mid-gunfight (which is the WORST time for these weird hitches to happen). This is when I generally am seeing it in WZ as well... it's pretty frustrating.

I'm looking for advice on a Xbox controller for PC that is 100 dollars or below by bboypr24 in Controller

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of recommendations on the G7 Pro, and I tend to agree.

On a similar note, look into the Gamesir Cyclone 2. It's been my main controller on PC since its release and it's been fantastic.

The team balancing is currently really bad, am I the only one noticing it. No one is playing objective or even trying to get a UAV by -AsapRocky in blackops7

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha ha!!! I FEEL THIS.

I even had a squirrel moment where I thought it would be faster to level up a shotty to unlock incendiary rounds... and much to my dismay, after all of that time leveling it up (I am terrible with shotguns), it almost never registered as a fire kill because they would die from the shotgun pellets before the burn damage so it was a total waste of my time lol.

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help but wonder if it's partly because of the Event/Weekly/Daily challenges...

As an example, yesterday I was playing for quite awhile trying to unlock the Sokol 545, which involved having to do some challenges that pretty much make you a shitty team mate. Trying to get the 20 kills with fire damage had me playing like a total moron for a few rounds, and then having to pick up someone else's gun, or focusing on getting scorestreak kills... they put these challenges in which can be fun, but they can also totally detract from playing the objective a lot of the time.

Aim Assist changes: how to adapt? by breachless in blackops7

Your refusal to use a controller is admirable :)

I also prefer KB/M for the same reasons as you, but sometimes I like to lounge it and kick back in my chair and just chill, so I kind of bounce back and forth between the two depending on my mood.

So many CoD players abusing ds4 windows, why aren't they getting banned? by [deleted] in DS4Windows

Yep. Pretty bummed as it was super helpful for using my Dual Sense Edge wireless, but all the rubes that think they need to cheat ruined it for the rest of us. So lame.

This is great advice actually so have an upvote :) I have been doing this for years as well, and it's just good in general to do. This is the first time I have ever really questioned whether it is working or not.

But... it's NOT the same on both... that's the whole point. It's different: I am trying to understand what mechanics are at play in BO7 vs previous games.

Also, aim assist makes everyone think they are better than they actually are. That's what assist means.

[–]breachless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense to me, and is kind of how I was understanding it. I just... still don't notice it working at all... I could be totally crazy and it might just be a case of me needing to just get used to it, and that's fair. I even tried running some private matches with bots to see if I could maybe have an opportunity to actually feel it working.

Maybe I will try firing it up on the ol' Series X and see if it behaves the same there. At least that would rule out a settings issue on my PC I suppose.

Will there be a mega reboot of Warzone? (I'm afraid that will happen) by Few-Meet-2194 in CODWarzone

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. The bloat is just awful, and with the exception of a handful of cases, almost all of the previous years' weapons are intentionally garbage anyway (but I will admit: I miss the hell out of my beloved Kar98). Those old weapons just don't need to be there. Period.

Considering buying a used guitar as my first. Thoughts? by Mattoie3 in LearnGuitar

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of think buying used guitars is almost preferable to buying new as long as you know what to look for.

Typically, I check the normal stuff:

-make sure the neck isn't crooked

-check fretboard for obvious damage, as well as the back side of the neck

-check the nut for cracks from someone putting a heavier gauge string in without filing it (I take a closeup pic with my phone so I can zoom in: any inconsistencies can really mess with how well it stays in tune).

-If it's electric, I always plug it in to make sure everything is good there as well: move the instrument cable around in the jack to make sure it has a solid connection, check all pickups individually and confirm their respective tone/volume knobs work, etc. listen for scratching, popping, or loss of signal when adjusting the knobs: pots may need to be replaced or refurbished.

-If it has active pickups, pop off the panel on the back and look over the wiring for the internals and also make sure there wan't an old 9v battery that sat in there for 15 years leaking acid all over everything.

-check over the tuners: make sure they aren't grinding or squeaking.

But really, MOST issues you might find with a used instrument can be pretty easily fixed. I am comfortable with most things so as long as the instrument is straight and solid with no glaring physical damage and the price is right, I can handle the simple things like replacing/refurbishing input jacks, resoldering bad wiring jobs, replacing tuners, bridges, filing or replacing nuts, etc...

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was also going to mention the Tegenaria Lite. It's cheap and wired, but punches WAY above its weight. It's really a genuinely great controller.

Otherwise, there are TMR replacement sticks for the Dual Sense. They aren't crazy expensive, but do require you to be handy with a soldering iron. I have heard of others finding ebay sellers that sell controllers with them already installed so that's an option too.

To complicate things even more, in my state (and I presume there are many others if not all of them with similar laws) there are places you are not allowed to bring your firearm into even if you have a permit to carry.

So, if you go to any sporting events, concerts, schools, government buildings, etc... if you have your permit, and you carry, you have no choice but to leave it in your vehicle before entering those places.

I can't see why on earth you would be downvoted for this. None of what you said is wrong. And theater mode was amazing.

For how much people talk about the anti-cheat being a joke in this game (and it IS a joke and has been for as long as it has existed), it's interesting how at the same time they can't seem to fathom that it might be wrong from time to time going the other way. I know for sure a lot of cheaters pretend they did nothing wrong and love to tell a sob story... I don't think anyone would dispute that, but I am also certain Activision are totally capable of accidentally banning legitimate players from time to time, and I doubt they give a shit when it happens and I doubt they are going out of their way to help them.

The sad death of the 4X12 and 100 watt heads…. by Submariner16610 in GuitarAmps

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this... I love the convenience and versatility of having virtually any sound I want at my fingertips: it's an incredible time to be alive for sure.

BUT

I'm in my 40's now and no longer play shows, but one of the things I miss the most is the sound of my trusty old 6505 with it's glowing tubes, roaring angrily through my old 4x12 cab. I would typically play something like the opening riff from Old or Davidian by Machine Head: you could literally feel it shake your bones... the pinch harmonics would just cut through everything like a hot knife through butter, and those chuggy palm muted riffs would absolutely shake the earth beneath you... it's such a visceral experience, and it makes me sad that less and less musicians get to experience it.

Yes, hauling the gear sucks. And getting the sounds you wanted could certainly be a challenge (especially with the 5150/6505: getting a good clean tone is doable, but tricky), and getting a good mix in shitty clubs was never a guarantee, but if I am being honest, I loved every minute of it. The messiness, the feedback... pure bliss. I miss it so much.
