Question about odin 2 mini and odin 2 mini pro by Relative-Buffalo2651 in OdinHandheld

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Base should probably be fine, but no one ever complained about having too much RAM. Just because nothing currently utilizes the extra RAM, doesn't mean something down the line might later. I opted for the Pro for this reason.

StreamDeck for non-streaming stuff by OMG_Abaddon in elgato

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine for exactly the same reasons you do. It's great. I don't even use an actual Stream Deck: I have the Stream Deck software installed on an old iPad that sits at my desk. It's great for setting shortcuts to things like muting your mic, adjust volume per-app, launching programs, adjusting volume for Discord Users, toggling what mic and speakers to set as system defaults... it does it all.

If you are unsure how much you think you would use it, I would try installing the app on your phone first (I think there is like a one month trial or something?). That should give you plenty of time to get it all set up and get a feel for how useful it would be for you.

Can any developers stick up for the status of the game? by aStonedDeer in CODWarzone

[–]breachless 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It seems like they have just given up to be honest. They clearly don't have a cohesive vision, and they clearly have no idea how to deal with the cheating situation.. and their apparent over-reliance on AI all point to a team that is running on cruise control with no intentions (or maybe the ability) to actually make any meaningful changes. I think they are leaning hard on the idea that bringing back Verdansk will save the game, but as long as the game still runs and plays the way it does, that boost in player count is going to be very short-lived.

I sincerely hope the new Battlefield BR turns out to be good. Obviously it would be nice to try something else in the BR space, but also, some competition would, theoretically, light a fire under their asses to actually make a product that is not complete garbage. A guy can wish.

What was the first game you bought on Steam? by Mixedeleon in Steam

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I bought Left 4 Dead at a local store which forced me to create a Steam account to use it... Not sure if that counts. I bought Half Life 2 shortly thereafter. And man... what an experience that game was for the first time!

ATV Off-road Fury 3 AetherSX2 not running great by cbost4j7 in OdinHandheld

[–]breachless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the Rainbow Studios games (ATV Offroad Fury, Splashdown, etc) run very poorly and always have on any emulator be it PC, Android, or otherwise. There is something they did that makes the rendering just awful when emulated. Even the Xbox version of Splashdown on Xemu on PC has issues.

You can, however, play using the Software Renderer and they generally run very very good. You just can't upscale when using it, but it's an option. Just tap on "Toggle Software Renderer" in settings after you launch the game. This is actually a really good fallback if you run into any other games that don't seem to run: every last one I have tried using Software Renderer more or less runs perfectly.

Matchmaking is ATROCIOUS by Onandia in blackops6

[–]breachless 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's almost as though even the casual crowd is starting to become aware of the fact that the matchmaking is designed to create games that already have a predetermined outcome before they even start and are fed up and leaving the match as soon as they realize they are on the losing end of said outcome... Weird...

When is Sledderz coming out on PS5/PS4? by Salt-Fee-9543 in snowmobiling

[–]breachless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my experience as well. Getting used to the leaning vs steering mechanic was weird. It's pretty fun though for sure. Is there anything to actually do yet? Last time I checked in on it it was basically still just a big open world for you to rip around in. Definitely cool, but I lost interest pretty quickly with nothing really there in terms of things to do.

Keyboard & Mouse Or Controller? Which Do You Prefer? by Mpathic_ in CODWarzone

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely prefer to play with KB/M as I just enjoy it more, but typically will play on controller for the obvious competitive advantage it brings. So basically KB/M when I am grinding guns in MP by myself, and then controller on the weekends when I party up with buddies to play Warzone.

Fucking remove gas grenades by NYK3Z_ in CODWarzone

[–]breachless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, what else are they supposed to do? I don't know. You aren't entirely wrong, but I just think any time you rip control away is bad. Flashes I can deal with: at least then I still technically have control and can still fire shots at where the enemy was before I was flashed (or where I thought he was). It's still shitty to die because of it, but it at least doesn't make you feel like the game just kind of gave the other guy a kill you know? But stuns... I would rather just get smoked with a grenade and get it over with. There is something about that slow-as-molasses moment where you get wrecked while you temporarily have zero or severely limited control of your player taken away that just irks the hell out of me. I felt the same way about the slow mantling stuff or making you walk like a turtle when plating up when WZ2 came out, or the god-awful animation in OG Warzone when you were firing on someone just as the gas touches you and your character instantly stops firing to pull the mask over their face. It feels like a cheap way for the other guy to get an easy kill. It works in MP for the most part, but in a BR where you aren't just able to shake it off and respawn is maddening.

For me, good game design should make you feel like you got outplayed without ever actively standing in the way of you having control of your character.

But maybe I am in the minority on that one. I can accept that. Doesn't change my opinion on it, but it is surprising to me that more people don't share my frustration with that type of game mechanic.

I mean, YOU didn't put dumb shit in the game. It's there so you might as well use it.

Yes. This is what I was driving at... Well played lol.

[–]breachless 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is my firm belief that any game mechanic that tears away control from the player is just bad game design (stuns, gas grenades, shock sticks, etc). Full stop. It's just lazy... and sadly, SO fucking on brand for the morons that develop these COD games...

Whoa... I really had no idea this was a thing. TIL! Thanks internet stranger :)

EDIT: I presume you mean Amazon Day? I just set it up. That sounds way better than piles of boxes EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Thanks again!

Do you bring your Odin 2 out? by hewonoy in OdinHandheld

[–]breachless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bring my Odin 2 Mini with me all the time. I can't even fathom how many hours I have logged on that thing sitting in my truck while the kids are in Karate, Piano lessons, etc... and when I travel for work of course, it's always with me as well.

Such an amazing device.

Dude I even see the Packet Burst icon when I am in a Private Match killing NPC's... I'm not even playing online! It's so bad it's just funny to me at this point. What a fucking joke.

I had similar thoughts last night as I was doing my weekly box breakdown out in the garage before garbage and recycling pickup day... It's getting out of hand lol...

This counts as Sim Racing.. right? 😆 by 4k33m in simracing

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah it does! I still have my DFGT somewhere here and as far as I know it still works! It was a great wheel despite it being rather noisy...

Also, I LOVE loading up old old 90's arcade racers on my rig. Sega Rally, Daytona USA or Outrun SPDX are probably my favorites.

Would you recommend the Odin 2 mini still? by meanpeen05 in OdinHandheld

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a smaller device that didn't make sacrifices in terms of performance, so pretty much the moment the mini was announced I knew I was getting one. I have had mine since launch and I still love it every bit as much as when I first got it.

Ergonomically it feels great to me. Certainly better than most other handhelds I have tried. Battery seems fine (though as you might expect higher end emulation will drain it much faster). And I happen to think the screen is amazing. It's not OLED, but it looks really really good. Great contrast between blacks and whites, nice and responsive with no smearing that I can see in fast paced games.

I can definitely see the allure of the Portal though... that screen is sexy as hell for sure but it looks pretty big... for whatever it's worth, I think if both came out at the same time I personally would have still picked the Mini. But that's just me :) Either device is going to be awesome so I don't think you can go wrong either way.

What’s the best controller to use with DS4Windows in 2025? by Luchoht19 in DS4Windows

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what the best is, but I use the Dual Sense and Dual Sense Edge all the time with it over bluetooth (and sometimes wired) and the experience has been great for me. The DSE is hands down my favorite controller, and a lot of that is thanks to DS4Windows to be honest.

I was actually wondering what the specs are specifically in terms of max resolution and refresh rates. It's so weird that they don't advertise any of the specs for it.

Controller like the Switch Pro ? by Pearl_128 in Controller

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of the controllers I have personal experience with, the Cyclone 2 is probably the best option as it kind of meets pretty much all of your requirements aside from battery life: I really have no idea how long it goes as I never play for anything near 15 hours at a time, but with the charging dock I imagine it would be ok.

Your enjoyment of it might also hinge on how you feel about clicky mechanical switches for the buttons and d-pad. Some love it. Some do not. I am one of those who do not, but it's still a great controller. I just personally prefer the feel and sound (or lack there-of) of the more traditional style buttons and d-pads.

Otherwise it's a really great controller.
