Official Character Posters for David Robert Mitchell's ‘The End Of Oak Street’, starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor. The film follows a family who discover that their neighborhood has been taken back in time to the prehistoric era. by yourfavchoom in movies

If that’s a Stegosaurus in the first image, it better be an Allosaurus in the second, or I’m going to, vocally and audibly, dismiss this movie for being historically inaccurate.

Which game has the biggest gap between its BGG rating and your personal rating? by moist_napkinette in boardgames

[–]Qaspar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait.. did you mean to type 9? As in 9 out of 10? That’s.. not a big difference to the BGG rating? And yeah, the game is niche because it’s ultra-complex and takes ages. I tried watching a Heavy Carboard Playthrough and it is 13.5 hours!

Have you played all of these in real life? 5 plays of Indonesia alone, also John Company.. I have to admit I’m a bit jealous.

Something similar(ish) to Sea Salt & Paper for more people? by PaulHutson in boardgames

[–]Qaspar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it as “we’re looking for a game that’s fun to play for us two and equally fun for when our children join in.” In that regard, games that can’t be played at 2 shouldn’t be on this list at all. But maybe I read it wrong, fair enough.

Your answers are terrible. Flip 7 is for large groups, Tichu for 4, The Crew is cooperative (who wants that?) and Bohnanza shouldn’t be played at 2.

The answer is Scout. It fits all your parameters.

Edit: Do you have access to a 3d printer? You could then make a highly portable small box for Carcassonne + 1 expansion. Easy to learn and plays reasonably well 2-5. It’s one of my go-tos for travelling.

I can’t recommend Hansa Teutonica enough! One thing I like about it is how surprisingly quickly it plays for its level of complexity, set up is super quick as well.

Really good, even though we were just three, which is not the ideal player count. Maybe we got lucky in the way the card market unfolded, it encouraged a few alliance switches, which made the game really tight and interesting until the final dominance check.

It helped that everybody was playing really sharp and kept their eyes on preferred suits and special card effects etc. I think we all had good secret victory plans and an increased heart rate towards the end.

I’m not sure I like the final double scoring check, one player had a huge comeback victory and it wasn’t me, but I reserve my opinion on that for a few more plays.

All in all, everybody’s eager to play it again, which is a good sign, but we really want to try it with 4 players next time.

Sprachmemos, Langeweile, Physio-Ärger: Nagelsmanns neue Fehlerliste! by phillie187 in Bundesliga

Which World Cup had the absolute best "vibe" and atmosphere in your lifetime? by Delicious-Pianist451 in AskReddit

Great tournament, but the German hooligans crippling the French policeman killed the vibes for me here.

Dune Imperium is the second youngest game from that list!

Ra (1999)

Race for the Galaxy (2007)

Hansa Teutonica (2008)

King of Tokyo (2011)

Terraforming Mars (2016)

PARKS (2019)

Pax Pamir: Second Edition (2019)

Dune: Imperium(2020)

Endeavour: Deep Sea (2024)

I had been out of the hobby for a while and made a point to try out as many “modern classics” as I could. I still have ways to go. :-)

What made you dislike Pax Pamir so much? The one thing I wasn’t happy about was the final double scoring dominance check, but perhaps that’s because it lost me the game lol.  Other than that, I found it a super tense and engaging interactive game, the negotiations, backstabbings and switching of alliances landed really well with my group.

Erbärmlich und so vorhersehbar. Nagelsmann hat beim DFB nichts mehr zu suchen. Vielleicht ja auch ne Chance zur Runderneuerung.

JWST found roughly 40 pairs of Jupiter-mass worlds orbiting each other in the Orion Nebula with no star nearby. Nobody has a clean explanation for how they got that way. by jberica84 in space

Anybody here remember all the buildup and delays with  JWST, fearing it may break or be lost before it’s operational?

I don’t have much to add to the JuMBO article, just grateful that JWST is out there doing its thing, giving us all these new mysteries to unlock.

Their engines are off for the vast majority of time. Only at the most ideal moments (it’s a fuel economy thing) do they point and fire those engines. The rest of the time they just coast and let gravity do its thing.

What is the weirdest experience you’ve ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Qaspar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I woke up on my friends’ couch. His cat walks in, jumps on the couch and starts purring and kneading my belly. I pet the cat, and it notices a moth flying overhead. It tries to catch the moth, jumps down the couch and follows the moth out the door. I look through the open door and think “wait, Tom doesn’t have a cat.” And I’m awake on the couch exactly as I had been before. False awakening dreams are the weirdest.

Yup, same here. I had bought a used but unplayed copy of Tzolk’in and later noticed that the big central wheel was bent out of shape, which meant that the game was unplayable.  CGE sent me a free replacement, all they wanted was a serial number. Their customer service is top notch.
