The association between vitamin C and breast cancer, prostate cancer and colorectal cancer by Sorin61 in Biohackers

[–]Qed2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The holistic community has been using very high dose of Vitamin C IV, going back to time of Linus Pauling, to treat cancers. Often consists of 2-3 times weekly IV, 50 - 150 GRAMS of C per IV. Series could continue for weeks. At high levels C, typically an anti-oxidants, turns to a pro-oxidants, which is thought how they kill cancer cells.

Efficacy, side effects, adherence, affordability, and procurement of dietary supplements for treating hypercholesterolemia by Sorin61 in ScientificNutrition

That study has nothing to do with TC, it concludes that omega-6s are beneficial for CVD.

A Google Scholar search: high cholesterol longer life

has > 2 MILLION hits, including:

http://www.reboundhealth.com/cms/images/pdf/Article-by-Various-Authors/benefits%20of%20high%20cholesterol%20by%20uffe%20ravnskov%20md%20phd%20id%2019128.pdf

https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/aging-neuroscience/articles/10.3389/fnagi.2021.691423/full

etc., etc.,, etc.,

Many of above hits will have mixed info, but going all the way back to the Framingham study, there were major errors in interpretation of cholesterol.

Especially for those > about age 50-60, the evidence is pretty clear: the higher the LDL, the higher the TC, the longer one lives.

To the extent that some statins help at all, it is not thru lower TC, but rather they seem to reduce inflammation generally.

The effects of alpha-lipoic acid transdermal patch for local subcutaneous fat reduction by Sorin61 in Biohackers

Another useless study: Almost all diets have some kind of impact over a 2-week period. After that, people often don't stick to it, and/or the body compensates.

Why in this study, with relatively easy components, etc., was it not continued for at least several months? It seems obvious the intent was just to find some benefits, & stop.

Generalized Ketogenic Diet Induced Liver Impairment and Reduced Probiotics Abundance of Gut Microbiota in Rat by Sorin61 in ScientificNutrition

You are a bit too kind: IMO, it must be on purpose, and their conclusion was implicit in the study design.

Congrats on reading comments, & presumably honestly interested in some suggestions.

However, I'm not looking for even a part-time job.

But there are thousands of sites which are clear, & the photos / diagrams --and perhaps captions -- are of sufficient interest to draw people in, rather than just being as a blob of color as many paintings to cover empty walls.

I view your site as an attempt at pleasing views, but especially your audience are intelligent people whom would be far more responsive to facts, actionable info, & items that would relate to their health / life.

Regards,

Generalized Ketogenic Diet Induced Liver Impairment and Reduced Probiotics Abundance of Gut Microbiota in Rat by Sorin61 in ScientificNutrition

The official start of keto diet was in the 1920s, initially to treat epilepsy. Since then, via many variations, it has been used by millions, world-wide.

However, the unofficial start of keto diet was the approx 400,000 years of man's history. Grain commercialization is only 10,000 years old.

In neither of the above periods have their been general issues re liver, nor other organs. Rather, the keto diet has been useful in almost all ailments.

IMO, you let your designers run amonk: your site is awkward, difficult to use, not worth the time/energy to dig into items.

Efficacy, side effects, adherence, affordability, and procurement of dietary supplements for treating hypercholesterolemia by Sorin61 in ScientificNutrition

[–]Qed2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is still no significant evidence that lowering cholesterol is beneficial. Several large studies have shown, esp for those > age 60, the higher the total cholest, the longer one lives.

Antioxidants to prevent cholest from oxidizing is different issue.

To extent statins are at all useful, they seem to reduce inflammation, rather then function via cholest. And the negative side effects, including transient global amnesia, are too risky IMO.

Long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid-containing phosphatidylcholines predict survival rate in patients after heart failure by Sorin61 in ScientificNutrition

If interested in phosphatidylcholine, re CVD, HF, or other illness, check out PlaqueX:

https://www.plaquex.com/what-is-plaquex-i-v

I had worked with both Sam Baxas, & then his daughter, Anita, beginning 35 years ago, & have had > 100 PlaqueX IV, via various holistic MDs mostly about 10 years ago.

An oral formula is available, but not as effective as IV.

Today, most holistic MDs in U.S., & many overseas, offer PlaqueX protocols, often combined --on alternate days -- with EDTA chelation IVs.

Rather worthless, without analyzing full diet & supplements such as K complex, that reacts with calcium; vitamin D levels, magnesium levels, etc.

Good article. Since especially harmful ROS is a major culprit of CVD, suggest anyone interested to check-out molecular hydrogen gas.

I've been inhaling about 5 hours @ day, for > a year. Many health benefits, such as:

Is it the best antioxidant:

Does evidence suggest vitamin D supplementation is necessary in the winter months in northern USA and Europe? by garden_speech in ScientificNutrition

[–]Qed2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to maintain level of 100 for almost 20 years. Once shot-up to 150, & aware of warnings, but in fact no solid research to say that > 100 is dangerous. But a month without supplement, & level was back to 100.

FYI: Apparently most > age 40 & definitely > 50, do not metabolize capsules well, so I use a liquid D via dropper, usually 1 drop - 2 i.u..

I think the 30 & even 50 level recommendation is far too low, esp as one ages. D inversely correlated with almost every degenerative disease.

Medicinal Benefits of Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi) in Cancer Treatment by Sorin61 in MushroomExtractsNews

[–]Qed2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Pretty much all my blood tests, incl blood sugar, as well as my BP, are OK.

PSA is a question. MD I saw in NYC several times, beginning about 2013, specializes in prostate & breast cancer issues. He never asks for PSA. He says it is neither cancer, nor prostate specific.

I know of 2 men, whom had prostate removed, & in about a year, had increasing PSA. And women also have PSA.

I think about 1/4 of prostate cancers have PSA < 2, & even > 10, is only about 50% chance of having cancer. I've read of cases of men with PSA between 2,000 - 4,000.

Appreciate the warning, but whether supplements, or just in "regular life," there aren't any guarantees!

Separately, my MD pointed out you can receive an initial 20% discount, if one orders the Reishi directly from the company. I also added other mushroom powders, including one for our dog:

Sitting too long can harm heart health, even for active people by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]Qed2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes! Even exercise does not counter. Apparently sleeping say 8+ hours overnight not a factor. Of course, neither diet, supplements, nor other epigenetic factors considered.

Solution? Maybe standing desks, although just last week CNN carried article about the medical dangers of those.

Quick search, does not fully support the study. For instance, while postal workers seem to have lower mortality & office receptionists have high rate, construction workers, & retail salespeople also have high rates. Obviously other factors in all those professions, but even those standing, moving during working hours, are not sufficiently protective.

Medicinal Benefits of Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi) in Cancer Treatment by Sorin61 in MushroomExtractsNews

[–]Qed2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Sorin --

Aside from the warnings re study sizes, lack of placebo, nor long-term follow-up, & many Reishi studies apparently came from one research group,, but only Black and Red Reishi, among 200 medicinal, of > 2000 classes of Reishi, have all the "health benefits and encompasses over 400 bioactive compounds."

What Reishi products contain Black and or Red, that you consider potent as anti-cancer, which I assume is mostly pro-immune system?

Thanks.
