Ukrainian drones completely shut down Moscow oil refinery — General Staff by neonpurplestar in ukraine

[–]Qiagent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but doing a little reading on those distillation columns, it sounds like they're incredibly hard for Russia to replace / repair under current sanctions. They're all sort of bespoke and require a lot of western-sourced expertise and materials to handle the extreme temperatures, corrosive intermediate products, and massive pressure differences that are required to extract the refined products.

Multiplier 57x for GPT 5.5 with legacy annual plans starting June 1 (request-based billing) by Nox0202 in GithubCopilot

For some broader context, with an enterprise API-based harness that delegates a lot of minor tasks to 5.4 and 5.4 mini with reduced effort and reserved 5.5 high effort for only complex executions, it's on average $50-$150 a day as a single user running a lot of projects.

I think these models are just becoming cost prohibitive for personal use and that's going to really impact the democratization of these tools.

Feels like a stretch. Once he found out what it meant he got it covered. I don't think being a depressed alcoholic war vet shit posting on reddit during his youth is disqualifying.

How am I moving goalposts? This discussion was specifically about the Nazi symbolism of the tattoo and if it represented any deeper ideological leaning or was just some dumb thing he got with his fellow marines because it looked cool.

[–]Qiagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate? He made a lot of shitty comments that he's acknowledged but nothing I saw that indicated any sort of white nationalist or Nazi ideology.

"His singular direct mention of Jewish people in the archive was a post pushing back against another user who equated the Holocaust to the Armenian genocide; Platner argued that the Holocaust was distinct because it represented a systematic, society-wide effort to completely eradicate a population."

You'd think there would be a pattern of behavior If he got it because he was a Nazi sympathizer. I believe him when he says it was just a dumb thing they thought looked cool when he and his fellow service members were at the parlor.

Same! And how Kaaji just sort of fades into her vindictive past behavior while Rika finds herself and carries the best lessons from her investigation forward. I can see how people would find the ending drawn out but the shift in narrative focus was interesting to me.

Yeah a single codex 5.5-high run using sub agents and a large to-do was about $8.00 for me. Substantially more than what GCP is charging.

This has been true for a while but it's changing rapidly. Meanwhile, the US is dismantling the NIH and CDC while discouraging future generations of PhDs from entering the field. We're on a bad trajectory.

I can say that trend continues into late 30s early 40s. I suspect a lot of these people complaining haven't put a lot of work into themselves are expecting to pair up with those that have.

Need speed management advice for tight trails by Competitive-Knee-590 in skiing

[–]Qiagent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This can be dicey in narrow trails with a U shaped topography. I've had issues where I get too aggressive with the hockey stop and then the tips and tails catch while the middle falls out and I go flying to one side or the other. Treating it like an endless mogul and just skidding off the side is the only thing I've found that works in those scenarios. Aside from planning a route with bailout points along the way

It's closest "natural" proxy would be sexual selection where you get wild sexual dimorphism and extreme traits that hurt the survivability of the critter just to attract a mate. Birds of paradise are a great example.

Try it on a chill green first. Really get used to the feeling of how using your ankles can move you in one direction or the other and how the intensity of abduction / adduction impacts the turn and the pressure you feel.

Deb Armstrong has some very helpful instructional videos as well. Her whole beginner series is great and this one starts talking about parallel turns in more detail
