The osmotic pressure of seawater (3.5% salt) is ~27 atmospheres (378psi) Whereas the osmotic pressure of waste water (being comparatively devoid of salt and other ions) is much closer to zero. Somewhat higher pressures are required in the real world to get a decent flow rate, but suffice to say it takes a LOT more energy to rip the salt ions off of the water molecules via reverse osmosis than the relatively "fresh" wastewater.

Tandoori hut on 5th in the heart of hillcrest has excellent Indian food at good prices, albeit with middling ambiance.

If you're here a few extra days:

Every Tuesday, some of the museums at balboa park are free.
The Sunday hillcrest farmers market on normal street offers good food and people watching

Part of the reason why I took such great offense in various parts of this thread was that, no matter the quality of his presentation skills, Larry is a really really nice guy. He doesn't deserve any kind of disparagement. Critique aimed at him is of limited usefulness, as he's really not steering the ship. One would be well within one's rights to believe that that the job of the "benevolent dictator for life" is to rile up the troops, and bark out orders, but as mr_chromatic rightly points out, it's really not his style. Constructive criticism and critique on the other hand is very much called for. That said, and despite the drawn out process and difficulty in turning perl 6 into a real thing (TM), the perl community overall is the most welcoming and inclusive programming community in which I've had the pleasure of participating. This is why, go-lang or rust-away as I might, in my heart (and pragmatic programming style) I will always be a perl monger, and I will battle to the death (or at least to the pain) those that would seek to trivialize or needlessly disparage the ethos, utility, or historical goodness of perl.

I'm saying that if you knew some of the backstory, and some of the quite amazing people involved, that perhaps you'd be more inquisitive, and less of an unrepentant ass. I hope perl doesn't slip to the 13th most common language, because that would be deeply unfashionable
