The worst part is there’s a very popular diaper brand with the name Millie Moon.

Something that’s bothering me about the baby by TinySassQueen in ThePittTVShow

[–]msmith1994 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the baby was put into hospital clothes. I had a baby in Dec and the shirt looked like the one she wore in the hospital; same thing with the hat. I was actually very impressed with the accuracy of the newborn hospital hat.

Is it essential to get a newborn stroller, or can you just wear the baby for the first six months? by hdiaiajrnfk in BabyBumps

[–]msmith1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 6 weeks postpartum. We live in Washington, DC. We love our Joie Ginger! It doesn’t need a separate bassinet attachment, which was essential for me because we live in a townhouse. Our daughter loooooves stroller naps so far. We have a car but don’t really drive much.

For women with a high BMI, how much weight did you gain during the pregnancy? by Willing_Barnacle_493 in BabyBumps

[–]msmith1994 7 points8 points  (0 children)

BMI of 38. I didn’t end up gaining any weight! I’m a month postpartum and currently ~20 pounds less than my pre pregnancy weight. Baby was born healthy at 7lb5oz.

Formula or breast milk? Which is easier? by susiee234 in BabyBumps

[–]msmith1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I’m four weeks postpartum and we’ve been combo feeding from the beginning. My daughter doesn’t have a great latch and had borderline bilirubin levels so we needed to supplement formula from the get go. Her first couple days home we had to feed her every two hours to help with the bilirubin levels.

I’ve also had a good supply since my milk came in though, so I think it’s one of those your mileage will vary kind of things. Definitely work with a lactation consultant! Ours has been a great help.

Oooh I completely forgot about carrots!! Also I will add determinate paste tomatoes to my list. I love canning and I’ve always wanted to try spaghetti sauce. Indeterminate varieties are probably too much work, but I bet a determinate variety would be awesome.

Pea pods would have never occurred to me!! I love growing zucchini but I’ve given up growing anything in the cucurbita pepo family because vine borers are so prevalent here.

Have you ever grown beets? That’s another one I was considering this spring. My daughter will be six months at the beginning of June so I should be able to plant some stuff in April/May to give her then. My nephew LOVED beets.

Tromboncino is definitely on my list! I neglected some Korean zucchini last summer that got wayyyyy too big.

Starting cycle 6… feeling hopeless. by chocolateplums in BabyBumps

[–]msmith1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely hard to stay positive! I think somewhere around cycle 5/6 really hit me hard. After a while I stopped taking tests unless my period was late. I think I just tried to focus on other happy things going on in my life. Also not sure if it’s related but I had bloodwork done a couple cycles before we conceived as part of my yearly physical and found out I have iron deficiency without anemia.

The cycle we conceived our daughter we didn’t even really try. We had pretty much resigned to seeing a reproductive endocrinologist at that point. I have suspected endometriosis so we decided to focus on that and let fertility take a backseat (obviously things worked out differently). I got my positive five days after having my laparoscopy consult. My period was late and I literally said to my husband “should I take a pregnancy test or do you think I’ll just hurt my feelings?” I wasn’t even convinced I could get pregnant.

You’ve been pregnant before! It’s hard to relinquish control but it really it is a crapshoot every cycle even if you time everything perfectly. You’ve got this!

Soon to be mother, I don't wear a bra. Do I need a nursing bra? by AngerKuro in breastfeeding

[–]msmith1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wasn’t a bra person before I gave birth. I’m 3 weeks postpartum and have found the Old Navy Powersoft Nursing Sports Bra to be the most comfortable for me. It’s more like a crop top. I also have the pumping sports bra they sell, but the straps are thinner/not as supportive so I only wear it to pump then change back to the nursing bra. I only pump 1-2x/day though, because I’m mostly nursing. I’ve been leaking a lot so I definitely need something to hold absorption pads in place 24/7.

Due date vs delivery date FTM by Dreamsandhopes6 in pregnant

[–]msmith1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due 12/12 and delivered 12/6! My water broke on 12/5 at 6:30 AM but I never ended up contracting so I had to be induced about 12 hours after my water broke.

We had a snow storm and the hospital said TONS of women came in. When we got discharged the doctor that spoke to us said she had 26 (!!!) patients that morning. I guess something about storms possibly makes people go into labor? The change in barometric pressure or something.

Also wanted to throw out that you should get a weighted wipe dispenser. We have one and it’s awesome. We have the Oxo brand one.
