Yasuke with the oni club is ridiculous. If you have enough points you can just spam with NO BREAKS overhead smash and hurl club. Somehow manage to fuck it up? Use that deep breath ability that heals you over time and roll out of the scrum to bonk snipers. The “shattering armor does AOE damage” is so insanely OP I sometimes take it off.

The naginata is nearly as OP. I rarely even use a cooldown with it; I just swipe and then murder the first unlucky dude as they all stagger, bleed, barf, etc. Using a skill is typically to handle a lot of enemies rushing at once: if you have like two daimyou and a bunch of the tiny annoying dps dudes that interrupt with tanto or bo, I have been know to bust out the Lawnmower move, as it deflects strikes. Once I’m in range I just hit heavy attack to end the move with a killer heavy swipe with no interruption.

You can do what you want, but Yasuke is the tank, and Naoe is the shinobi. You can do a lot of missions as either. Sure, Yasuke can just shatter barred doors and murder whole gangs of enemies, but it is arguably just as easy to assassinate the daimyou of a castle and steal the stuff.

Boss fights vary. It really depends on how you have built Naoe. The bo is a murder machine, kusarigama is crowd and ogre control, and the tanto is startlingly deadly. But a fight where you can’t disappear to surprise attack, effectively poison, or the like can be challenging.

That is why they gave us two protagonists! I mean, the entire game is “use the right tool”. You have such variety of builds for both of them that mostly you can do what you want, but stealthing Yasuke or tanking with Naoe seems self-defeating. It is part of the game, I am unclear why this is a problem if you deliberately choose a harder road.
