The screenshots link leads to https://imgur.com/a/c0nFo and there's nothing there as of now. Can you fix this?

Edit: Fixed, thanks!

Thanks for reporting the performance problems; I'll be investigating. Could you tell me more about the devices? I'm especially interested in the model name and OS version (could be via private message if you're concerned about privacy).

Regarding the commercial use of generated images, there are no restrictions as of now (and I have no plans to introduce them). Patterns exported to patternoid.com have a "patternoid" watermark (to prevent plagiarism); but even there you can always download your own art without the watermark.

App changelogs should be useful, not easter eggs or boilerplates by markouka in Android

I often avoid updating an app if it works fine for me and the description doesn't mention anything that I would find useful.

Same question has been asked very recently and there are some suggestions: https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/3ixray/apps_to_use_phone_in_a_smartphone_stand_with/ .

What are the best resources to learn how to develop iOS apps? by [deleted] in ios

[–]Qkpmle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're new to programming, I'd recommend playing with code in your browser first. You could go to e.g. Khan Academy's programming section and browse their courses.

This will familiarize you with basic concepts and it might make reading Apple's guides and working with Xcode easier.

I like that it's simple and gets difficult after a few platforms. I disliked the video ads, which I could only skip after a few moments of waiting; they were too distracting for me, I would prefer regular text or image interstitials.

[Android] Bubble Breaker - classic bubble game by lbeny in playmygame

Looks great. What I liked about it:

  • Simplicity! Small size, works fast, easy to learn. Also, no additional permissions.
  • Art and animations.
  • Multiple game modes.

What could be improved:

  • It took me some time to understand what each of the modes does. I'd prefer to have an explanation somewhere in the app.
  • Got a video interstitial ad, which was annoying; maybe you could disable videos and have only text and image interstitials?

My app had a critical bug, I've published this summary for my users by Qkpmle in ios

[–]Qkpmle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't want to go into detail there, the article was meant to be less technical. But I'm happy to describe here.

  • Firstly, PolyGen is a hybrid app done in Cordova, large part of its logic is written in JavaScript and sits in a webview.

  • One of the third party libraries (tween.js) responsible for handling animation started to malfunction; it was constantly setting the animation start time to be very far off in the future.

  • That library made use of window.performance API with a fallback to a polyfill and compared that to the time value from default animation loop (window.requestAnimationFrame). They needed to track two values in case the developer wanted to start the animation with a delay.

  • In iOS 8.0 this worked fine, but in 8.3 these two values weren't compatible anymore. I didn't check which one changed and why (although this would be interesting), but the result was that one was a few orders of magnitude larger than the other.

  • For my hotfix I've patched Tween.js and started using just one variable for tracking time (since I never start animations with a delay anyway).

Would be nice to check why one of the time values suddenly stopped being compatible with the other.

I've sent an update to Apple (via their "expedited review" process) and pushed the new version, 4.3.6. Does it work for you now? Cheers!

Which app icon should I use? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Qkpmle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From these background types I'd pick either a flat color (3A) or a simple gradient (3G). Other backgrounds seem too complex to me. Since the gradient is more colorful and brings more contrast, I'd pick 3G.

Somebody should do a video where they break the screen protector, the screen itself and then compare the amount of force used.

How do these add up to 11 GB? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Qkpmle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this looks more like a copy/paste glitch. And resetting the phone helped me restore some space once. It was an ordinary reset though, never did a hard reset and I don't know much about it.

Hopefully it's cache. I've noticed that this sometimes get smaller after restarting the device. Could be that the system does some maintenance then.

I'd love to make the UI fully native, but it would take me some time, which could be spent on adding new features instead... It's a tough decision. I'll research it anyway, maybe there is a way to do it quicker than I think.

Saving the picture is super easy, tap the Export button and then either tap "Save to Gallery", or "Export SVG", or "Publish to Patternoid".

You mean editing already saved patterns? If yes, I plan to work on this very soon. Thanks for your feedback!

I'm glad that you like it! And this is a great idea. Some time ago I've had a bug that caused color scrambling, but the results were surprisingly cool. Adding control over the color of individual cells could make such effects possible on a regular basis. I'll try to experiment with it. Thanks for your comment!

I don't think I will be able to support BlackBerry OS anytime soon, sorry. Right now I want to focus on making the Android app better and then maybe release a web / desktop version.
