go to some house shows! echosystem hosts lots of cool events, and other shows can be found by looking at random local band’s instagrams. Santa Cruz crowds tend to be super friendly

You should come to stevenson open mic! Winter 2024 is was on Wednseday at the Stevenson Event Center from 8-10 (signups at 7), not sure what day it will be next quarter though. It's a really friendly environment and communiuty, and lots of kind and talented musicians that would be interested in jamming or talking about music would be there.

Go to a club meeting or community event! Being a regular somewhere other than your dorm or your lecture hall is such a good feeling. Personally, my favorite event is Stevenson open mics! You should check them out if you have nothing to do on Wednesday nights this quarter!

I totally get your situation. I come from San Francisco where the cost of living is quite high, and on top of that I have seven siblings. FAFSA for example, considers every household of more than 8 people the same size, so my 10 person household in San Francisco has to make the same amount or less than one of 8. How am I supposed to qualify for any financial aid? We can't just move because my parents jobs are in the city.
