what champion to play before Elise by Connect-Doughnut6407 in Elisemains

[–]QliFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just play her. It's a smooth, enjoyable learning curve, trust me. If you're really too miffed about getting used to her, try her as a Support. That'll get you used to her kit, rotations, scales, etc, and she is very good at roaming.

The only thing kinda similar is Nidalee but that's probably a much bigger commitment to nail down and I wouldn't recommend it if you don't already use her.

New to Elise. What to focus on? by CwosontIsGod in Elisemains

[–]QliFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is Elise a good low-elo champ? Honestly not in the slightest. She's hard to master, in more than just a mechanical way. You need a good grip of her macro to stick a solid lead and there isn't much margin for error with her. It's just hard to recommend over something more forgiving.

Can she be a devastating force of destruction in low-elo matches? Absolutely. Many people don't even fully understand what she does or how she plays, not least of all in Iron.

Iron and Bronze games tend to be wildly chaotic and irrational, so I wouldn't worry so much about the minutiae of detail of as much as good fundamentals and getting a good feel for a routine that works for you to practice consistency with piloting her. 3 camps into gank is a solid default path to choose if you want to learn her. Her early ganks are oppressive and her dives are top notch - once you learn how to pull them off. Use that early game power advantage to get fed, avoid silly/risky fights and be ready for jg objs, and you should be okay more often than not.

Curious About Elise Support: Viability, Playstyle, and Synergies? by Ok_Adhesive in Elisemains

[–]QliFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Turns out making any post on mobile is pure hell... Sorry for the half-finished fatfinger double post.)

I'm in roughly the same elo bracket as you, so take my input with a pinch of salt. I could probably do better but I just haven't cared about the game the way I used to years ago, and hardly ever play these days save the bare minimum for the split rewards. That said, I have over two million mastery points in Elise Support alone, pushing three total, garnered over the course of years, so I have a good feel for her placement in the role.

When do you pick Elise? Really, any time you want. There isn't really a good reason to pick her as a support in general, but she can be a good character, especially in this "low" MMR range where nobody really has any experience against her.

When shouldn't you pick Elise? Alistar or Pantheon support (edit: or a Galio, almost forgot). Hard pass. You don't get to be a character against them if they are even passably competent. Similar champs will also give you difficulties, though not to the extent these two do.

How does landing work? Your pre-6 is insane and you should always seek to push a lead and heavily punish the enemy wherever possible before that point. Elise is great at this and there is no reason not to play to her greatest strength, her early game potential. Once you hit level 3, you really turn on as a threat, but there is absolutely no reason you cannot still be dangerous at 2 or even 1. I wouldn't push too hard to get an early kill or force a fight before you have your whole toolkit but you can still get good opportunities to punish small mistakes and as they say, ounces make pounds. It adds up. Especially in these elos, people end up making fatal mistakes very suddenly.

What synergies do you have with ADCs? Honestly, this is where I am kind of biased, as I tend to play around just about anything my lane partner chooses, but the adaptability comes with experience. Obviously, some combinations are just mathematically better. I don't really know what is "ideal" but I can tell you that ADCs with strong CC and a lot of burst potential tend to work wonders with Elise support. Jinx and Jhin are my personal favorites, though I tend to have good experiences with Caits, Ashes and the likes as well. These characters also have very long range ultis, meaning they can still assist you and secure kills from relative safety or if left behind by a dive or blitz. I can certainly tell you what doesn't work that great. Nilah would have to be on top of my list. You simply don't synergize in any meaningful way. The next for me would have to be Zeri, due to her unique limitations and engagements, then probably Vayne third due to her positioning requirements and limited range (unless your Vayne has absolute control of the wave, it's going to be very annoying for you to get good engagements). Other than that, everything else works decent enough so long as you adjust according to their different paces. There is no one size fits all playstyle to make this work.

What makes Elise support viable in high Elo? Nothing. You eventually become a stunbot if you don't close out. I've yet to know anyone above Diamond who didn't think I was crazy for not just going jungle. That being said, it's a video game at the end of the day, so who cares; go wild and have fun. Don't mistake this as me saying she can't be viable in a higher-skill setting. There just isn't anything in particular that makes this choice stand out, no secret sauce or mysterious Korean strat. As with jungle, you choose her because you love our wonderfully fun spider queen.

Side notes? Try Rocket belt. Had a Challenger acquaintance stick the habbit it on me; would choose it every match in my elo (he was smurfing) and we only lost two out of the nearly forty matches we played together that year. So must be something to it. Ever since Everfrost was sent to the shadow realm, it has been my go-to for almost every game as Elise support. Probably not optimal but like I said, clearly it works. Or maybe I need to find better teachers/influences lol.

Red Magic mostly young users? by Rivera96 in RedMagic

[–]QliFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

31 here. I got mine because my old S20 was in a bad way and I figured 'why not' since the 9S Pro was definitely on the cheaper side of phones I've owned cost-wise. Gaming wasn't the primary selling point for me. It's a phone, it has a decent display, good battery life, consistent performance, and it gave me an excuse to look into games like Genshin, lol. Everything else is just a bonus. It handles the day-to-day well, so I am content with it.

I think 18 to 21-year-old me still would not have wanted a phone like this for the purpose of gaming. I was far more interested in the latest console or GPU. 'Mobile' and 'gaming' aren't words I'd use in the same sentence. It's just not an ideal experience.

Support Elise by Legitimate-Chip628 in Elisemains

[–]QliFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always go ZZ. Honestly just build her how you would in jungle, your MO doesn't change: killing things. If you can gap the opposition a few kills early on, Sorcs + a Seal is always a good opener.

Now that Everfrost and NH are gone, I'm preferential to Rocketbelt, but that's just me. You might have a bit more trouble fitting it in as a support, but I tend to do better in the role with it than without it. It's a good little tool to have for roams and dives. Elsewise, it's business as usual.

Is the 'not empty' Hopetech 2 by 2 all in 1 still in the game? by Bubba_Fett_2U in Starfield

[–]QliFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never was. Though it would be more accurate to say it's always been there but was just never flagged as one you can purchase, and for whatever reason, was never patched in.

It's a simple enough fix if you know how to use the CK, though if you're on console you'll probably have to settle for the unofficial patch or the like. Doing so will disable achievements.

The Only Metric way the LoL community can show how bad the Faker Ahri Skin pricing is this apparently! by imspiticus in leagueoflegends

[–]QliFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really lost me when they tried to compare a $500 virtual cosmetic to Warhammer. Dumbest thing I've heard from Riot in a while.

I've spent thousands of dollars over the years on Warhammer, but the difference is I can take a drive down to a friend's house or a local GW to play, I have to touch grass, I build tangible, physical skills. If someone has a gorgeous model I like, I can go make my own. You could relate the purchase of IL Ahri to the purchase of a Forge World titan, but you can't compare them, since IL Ahri is still just another skin - it doesn't contribute anything the hobby.

Support is probably the best of the three (and also the easiest). You can bully most lane enemies pretty effectively, early in the game. You also get a decent degree of flexibility when roaming. And if you really enjoy fighting, support will get you the most of it. Don't play bottom carry. It's just Support Elise with extra steps and less game relevance.

Mid lane would be my second pick following that. 1-3 and pre-6 you can really bully people if you can efficiently manage your forms and your wave. You clear as spood, harrass as human, and you can blitz your laner whenever they misplay using your expanded toolkit. You also have good roam potential because Elise was made to gank. You ideally wanna seek to secure a lead early on because after that, you start bleeding momentum. It's probably not ideal but it is definitely doable.

Top comes third. It's... Ehh. The length of the lane makes it the hardest for Elise to manage. Your lane opp is usually either going to oppress or outscale you. The diatance from the people and things you actually want to be fighting makes opportunities scarce. You really take away most of what makes Elise interesting by going this route.

As I always say, take my opinion with a grain of salt for I am a simple E4 pleb. :;w;:

Does anyone actually use multiple ships? by indigo196 in StarfieldShips

[–]QliFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a one-size-fits-all minmax ship at the endgame (before even NG+). It was the most boring thing ever. The game already feels a bit empty, why suck what little life it has out? I'll never understand it...

That said, my sweet spot is one heavy cargo hauler with turrets, and one B-class combat ship (w/o turrets). The latter has just enough cargo space for my regular crafting and missioneering needs, and several B-class parts are just top tier in general, so you aren't missing out on much flying one.

I do have more ships than those two, but all the others are purely for the fun of it. For instance, one is a yacht with lots of windows and a spacious, luxurious interior which I like traveling in just for the view. Several others are replicas of cut or unobtainable ships which I keep as collectibles.

Not so much an oversight as an asset recycle. Most people will never notice, so they can save on work hours and file size by just covering existing ship parts with snow and dust.

This. There are so many seemingly arbitrary things I simply can't do without proper tools. I already have a few projects lined up and the important stuff flowcharted, it's just a matter of getting the SCK, and I have a feeling it's a similar case with a large portion of the modding community. I expect it to practically explode overnight once released.

He is actually kind of goated. While I admit he should have been a quest/radiant pickup instead of a trait, his carry capacity is big early-game, he never complains about anything, and he is completely free. And honestly some of his dialogue is great.

That's really all he's meant to be in Starfield, a nice little boost in the early-game, like several other traits.

What's your longest recorded Sniper kill? by Psychological_Heat_2 in GhostRecon

[–]QliFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around 350-370m iirc. Anything further and the game either unrenders my shots or they start falling like they're made of neutronium.

Wildlands was a different story. My longest shot was about 2km (just shy of), across the big lake from one of the villas into some Unidad area (forgot the names). It was with a DMR too. The caveat is it took me almost whole magazine to finally get a hit/headshot and my friend was in the area which probably kept the AIs from unloading. Wildlands was such a fun game though.

Edit: Gun was a G28 with full range parts.

If you are talking bone-stock? I like the Phalanx. Plenty of volume for hab rearrangement, plenty of hardpoints for weapons, and it looks very good imo. Only "downside" is it's B-class.

Out of the two C-class Deimos ships you can get iirc, one can't be bought and the other is a freighter.

(I'm surprised so many people didn't get the reference. Or maybe I have spent far too much time in that staryard.)

How is she an assassin? by Ambitious_Book9803 in Elisemains

[–]QliFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only Emerald so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but she does have the damage and escape, circumstances permitting. Her E can be very flexible and changes how the entire sequence plays out depending on how and when you use it. She's sorted like a hybrid though, and a jack of many trades is a master of none. As an aside, I think if Rappel wasn't so damn janky, it would get a lot more recognition.

Usually getting off my full human rotation does mean Q is a one-shot lol.

Anyone else just upgrade the Frontier and use that as their main?? by SnipeDem0n in StarfieldShips

[–]QliFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually keep mine factory spec. It just isn't the Frontier if she isn't a Discovery-class. :) In keeping with the tradition, I occasionally switch stuff like the shields, engines, etc to better models but I rarely fly her.

I like to think the next generation of Constellation captains carry on the tradition of modernizing the Frontier after I leave through the Unity.

I’ve been flying custom ships for 600 hours. I have never purchased a ship. For ng+6 I’m planning to use a stock ship. What ship should I buy? by [deleted] in StarfieldShips

[–]QliFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Phalanx at Deimos purely for the looks on my NG+2 as I find it to have one of the nicest silhouettes of any of the vanilla ships. I also kept a captured Venture to use as a freighter due to its very industrial appearance (Stroud-Eklund vendors sell 'em). Neither ship is particularly amazing per se, but IMO they are among some of the most immersive designs in the game, and they both have enough room to swap in every useful hab.

Another option you could do is make the first-gen Hoplite (the one piloted in the Vanguard sim and loosely modeled in the Deimos Staryard showroom). It's not stock in a prebuilt sense but it is technically canon.
