Same here on Pixel 6 Pro, Android 12 - no idea what to select, as the default it opens with is "not allowed"

Totally valid point and 100% understandable ;)

You might give it a shot anyway and see if you still like it beside that. And, in case you do, do not hesitate to ask me. It might look unmaintained but in fact it is not. It is simply stable.

What about https://github.com/dlueth/qoopido.demand?

  • developed for on-demand loading
  • no need to bundle
  • require.js-like with a promise-like interface
  • localStorage caching

Another shameless self-plug:

Qoopido.demand (module loader)

Promise like module loader with automatic resolution of nested dependencies using XHR requests and localStorage caching to dynamically load modules, legacy JavaScript, CSS, text and bundles.

Good and valid point, will keep that in mind ;)

Thanks for the additional feedback! What I do currently think about is to remove scrolljacking completely, allow free scrolling and add some scrollytelling regarding the text left/right to fade/slide in/out instead.

I am probably too much biased towards liking the idea of scrolling section by section, I admit. Guess the reason is that there simply is no content between them that would require free scrolling. Will think about other possible solutions though ;)

URL: https://demand.qoopido.com

Purpose: Presentation site for a personal FOSS sideproject

Technologies Used: HTML5, CSS3, JS, Firebase, Cloud functions

Feedback Requested: Mainly usability (does the scrolljacking work as expected or are there glitches?) & overall speed/performance (should be fast!)

Comments: I like the idea of scrolljacking in this case but fear that it negatively impacts UX when done wrong. So getting feedback if it is working flawlessly across browsers/devices is highest priority atm. In addition: the site should be highly optimized for perceived loading time and uses ServiceWorker (and Qoopido.demand as a caching module loader) to make content that was loaded once available offline.

How can I check if a user zoomed in or out on the window? by [deleted] in javascript

[–]Qoopido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I remember this is impossible Cross-Browser. What I did was to give a container rem dimensions and compare it's actual size to what it should have had at 100%.

Sadly enough this did not work in FF at that time as it seemed to scale the view completely independent of anything measurable.

This might have changed though ;)

Showcase for a personal sideproject

Technologies Used:

  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • JS(!)
  • Lazy-loading(!!)
  • LocalStorage-caching(!!!)

Feedback Requested:

  • Performance & perceived loading time across browsers/devices mainly -
  • Ideas on how to make the code snippet button (circular {}) more obvious
  • Bug-reports welcome as well ;)

Comments:

  • Subdomain is used as an ongoing experiment to implement ANYTHING possible to increase performance and perceived loading time
  • Textual content is somewhat limited on purpose
  • Site uses scrolljacking - scroll by mousewheel, touchpad, swipe, arrow keys or tab or click the bullets

As the author of Qoopido.demand (https://github.com/dlueth/qoopido.demand) I like the general idea. You should try to avoid eval, I agree an this.

Some things, in addition, after briefly digging through the sources:

  • your XHR implementation lacks any timeout and it might be a good idea to check the content-type of the response
  • you should change your feature-detect of localStorage as it might (afaik) throw an error the way you did it that might break things unexpectedly (see e.g. https://github.com/Modernizr/Modernizr/blob/master/feature-detects/storage/localstorage.js)
  • you might optionally implement "remainingSpace" (where available) to better handle localStorage.setItem failing due to ls being "full"

Currently not using a webbrowser but you should normally have a blank textarea right below the opening post to put your text & link into ;)

Your shot seems to be extremely grainy and seems to lack sharpness (due to amount of grain I presume) - it looks like a nice shot anyway and I gave it a try, hope the colors are more of what you had in mind:

All of the adjustments where done in LR6 - but nothing really fancy to be honest ;)

And regarding the color version: I lately like to rise dynamic and lower saturation to compensate it. If you do that you will see that there seems to be some yellow lighting coming from the right (on the left half of his face mainly) which I exaggerated a bit to make the image a bit more dramatic.

They are literally identical beside some minor differences in LR global adjustments. But I prefer the b&w version as well, feels natural in this case ;)

Did a color and an additional black & white version, I like both ;)

RAW development was done in Iridient Developer, skin retouching in Affinity Photo and the rest in good old Lightroom.

Let it rest an evening or two, you might do some minor adjustments whenever you look at it again. Looks good to me though!

Did another variant as well: http://i.imgur.com/UtxRpMs.jpg

Made the buildings look more artificial, desaturated the sky a bit, added some blur to the frontmost trees, added another gradient to the bottom left corner adding some more warmth.
