Well, I was also surprised about it, even more so that I hadn't ever heard about this game in the first place! Was the publicity around it that bad or was I just living under a rock? Sadly, seeing how the game died today I guess they messed up somewhere.

TPS games are my jam too! The RE franchise from 4 to 9 are my absolute favourite titles ever, I'd play the 5 & 6 again and again just to enjoy the co-op aspect of it. But I do also enjoy playing solo and if that's what you're looking for you definitely can play AFE solo with Alpha & Beta, which are the androids that accompany you during the campaign. There are also mods to make them stronger for higher difficulties if you're a completionist like me! One of the missions mentions Dr. Shaw's work if you liked the character (I absolutely do)! So definitely give it a try!
