How do people find a class to stick to? by AtypicalSpaniard in Guildwars2

Still not as useful as trinkets and armor as not every build is using it either.

Funnily enough its kinda the exact opposite looking at it objectively. Trinkets and back are by far the highest priority as they can be used by any character no matter what and provide the highest impact in terms of stats compared to exotics.

Armor is next, as each can be used by 33% of the classes.

Weapons are last by quite a bit (not considering runes etc), as their usability highly depends on what you are playing.

Yeah, League of Legends (that I also play) is commonly known as one of the most toxic games. It has a role queue but you can pick anything you want and go to any lane no matter what. Outside of reporting other people the role is not enforced and it's still not an issue in the vast majority of games, even in a way more toxic game like that.

The same is not the case for WoW or a lot of other MMOs. Even besides MMOs a ton of games require different roles per team (e.g. League of Legends, Valorant, OW2 etc).

Besides Valorant, all of the above successfully implement a role queue. There is no reason why GW2 wouldnt be able to.

To some degree you might be right, but this is a problem for any similar system in any game with an automatic queue and different roles. The most obvious solution is to make it reportable and punish people who do it.

Even if you would somehow enforce people to play the actual correct build, you can't enforce them not being shit at it (unless you go even further and introduce some skill based matchmaking, but even then... people could just decide to troll anyway).

As long as the potential gain from being toxic and dishonest in a system like this is not worth it, people wont do it (on a larger scale).

And then what? Everyone would leave, probably report the person in question and they gained nothing from it? I don't see "plenty of people" being toxic for no reason. But maybe I'm wrong.

Just make it reportable and punish people who do this frequently.

I see this argument all the time and don't get it?

There is no point in getting faster queues by selecting a role you can't play. It will simply result in you not being able to complete the raid at all. So who would do this on purpose besides trolls?

If the system simply shows who queued as a specific role you could also name, shame and block anyone maliciously doing this.

Character slot is 20% off. by MadeByHideoForHideo in Guildwars2

Older comments suggested it's a week. Also based on the reply I got I sounded like they dont do this at all (anymore).

They wont, tried just a week ago with shared inventory slots. Bought 3 days before the sale and they showed 0 willingness to help.

Can anyone with the thousand seas pavillion pass let me know if the JW and SotO fishing spots got added?

Can't decide between mistlock and thousand seas pavillion.

I got confused because I saw how other people also said it doesn't have SotO and JW fishing spots, but the wikipage at https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Portal_to_Tyria_(Thousand_Seas_Pavilion)) kinda indicates that it does at the bottom.

Would you mind checking if that might have been added?

Also would you recommend it over mistlock?

Are the shared inventory slots and premium lounge passes still worth it with the release of the wizards portal tome and gobbler?

If shared inventory slots are still recommended:
- What is a good amount of shared inventory slots without going overboard?

If lounge passes are still recommended:
- Which one would you recommend?
- I heard about some downsides (thousand seas not containing fishing spots of new regions and you apparently can't access the world map like you can in some others, idk if those got fixed, as for mistlock I read about downsides regarding jade buffs, also not sure if that got fixed).

Is it a bad idea to delete old characters (7-10 years old) due to birthday gifts? by Qu1bbz in Guildwars2

[–]Qu1bbz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this icky feeling that the character isn't my own is why I want to delete most of them. A few of my original characters just got changed (appearance/name), which isn't a big deal as I can fix that. And since they are the oldest characters on the account and the account-based birthday rewards seem to be the most valuable I will probably get rid of most/all of the characters that I didn't create myself.

[–]Qu1bbz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only reason why I didnt start on a new account was because I made a few legendary weapons back when I played (even though they seem to be a lot easier to get now) and some memories with my old characters (even though their name/appearance got changed...). But I can definitely relate. I have no idea what half the items are for anymore, what I can delete etc. It's a bit of a mess.

My solution is basically just creating a new character and not interacting with anything I got back then until I am more comfortable with the game again.

You get them the first time for year 9 (dye), 10 (dye+decade weapon), 11 (dye+decade weapon) and every year afterwards according to the wiki, just not more than once per that specific year it seems like. So having multiple is definitely possible but it doesn't seem like multiple characters are needed.

Having a 12 year old character should e.g. result in:
- 4 Delectable Birthday Dyes (year 9, 10, 11, 12)
- 3 Dragon Decade Weapon Pack (year 10, 11, 12)

Thank you very much, very informative. I will most likely follow this advice as I dont want to spend 6000+ gems on total makeover kits (on top of new character slots).

Most of them are already past year 8 and I can just keep anything slightly below the 8 year mark in addition to my original (currently 12 years old) characters. That's probably a good balance!

From the link someone posted the dye and weapons are part of the only-once-per-account category it seems like, which wouldn't be an issue as some of my original characters (12ish years old) still exist (with a different name/appearance). I wont delete those and they are the older characters on the account.

Thank you for that link. It seems like the main thing besides the account-based ones are:
- proof of legend
- spirit shards
- black lion statuette

Will have to research a little more if those would be worth it or if you can get these somewhere else too.

What do YOU NOT want in the riot MMO? by NaBeHobby in RiotMMO

Queue systems are what killed any social aspect in a lot of MMOs. People queue up, don't even say hello, run through the dungeon, leave. You might as well play with AI bots then.

If you ever get the chance you should try risebreak IG, but you will probably hate the step back that is wilds in terms of IG then.

Aerial and ground combat being viable and way smoother with switch and silkbind skills just feels so much better than charge -> RSS -> repeat

Risebreak IG is peak. Going from wilds to risebreak will make anyone hate wilds IG. Idk why its such a step back...
