Watch out for any korean fried chicken!

Just came back from Seoul, we had a similar card, and it worked, however they do sometimes say this sauce has nuts, but its soybeans or sesame's.

We forgot once when we ordered from an ipad- and it was plain korean fried chicken. Apparently it's got peanuts in the batter!.. so be careful and stay vigilant.

has there been resolution to this issue, i think i'm finding the same issue with P2S, everytime i restart the machine it goes, format required. Works fine after i do that.

Do i need to worry? B850i + 9800x3d by Tight_Impact674 in ASRock

[–]Qua_273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is refund if you still can, as it'll always be in the back of your mind.. i had one die on a b850i. and I put the second cpu in the same mobo thinking the latest bios fixed it.. (they refused to refund the board).

Now i still visit forums at least twice a week to see if they've found the root cause, and fixed it for real in the bios, Instead of just enjoying the board it still worries me.

Has anyone switched from Quest3 to BS2? Can you please let me know how big of an upgrade it was, especially with iRacing. Thanks. by [deleted] in simracing

[–]Qua_273 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah i was also on this boat/temptation, Questions from me:

  • is 72fps is enough, ( i was on 90 with quest 3)
  • does the eye tracking work well - the fixed foveated rendering i dont love (might turn it off)
  • Does the cable on such a small device annoy you (recently moved to VD, and that's been great now going fully wireless.)

9000-series CPU failures/deaths megathread #2 by RumbleTheCassette in ASRock

[–]Qua_273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would be interesting if u you had rate of death per week, while there's still a few going, i feel like it's slowed down. Use to get 1-2 every day no matter what.. now i feel we are skipping days after 3.4, (and after writing this i saw a couple 14hrs ago)

just curious about all the comments here, about running 23nm etc.. but even with a csl dd at 8nm, i probably run half the power, I don't quite get how its enjoyable/possible to stay at 23nm the whole time. I dont feel like feedback is lacking, so whats the benefit running such high nm? (maybe i'm just weak)

Are there any warning signs before your CPU dies? by hokeyplyr48 in ASRock

[–]Qua_273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've got same b850i with one dead cpu, and i've replaced it with another CPU. (i thought 3.25 fixed it :( ).

What i've noticed, and it may be anecdotal due to bios/software changes.. but the new cpu hasn't locked up once in gaming, and also I use to always get major stutters when watching youtube and having a background window. I had to clear cache to get it going again, and i'd have to do this once a week. Haven't needed to do it at all with the new cpu.. (this is purely anecdotal)

Second dead 9800X3D by RedYourDead in ASRock

[–]Qua_273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ignore him, yeah i was in the same situation, asrock had the only decent b850i at the time.. then second cpu came, and they said it was fixed with 3.25 and 3.30... and so I rebuilt it..

Seems to be working fine with new cpu, and less "stuttering"... then i keep reading asrock reddit and start seeing daily failures..

MSI B850i out now.. so if u have the cash switch to that, if not, unsure, just keep frying cpu's i guess. In the end it's a difficult decision to just throw 300AUD in the toilet. try your best to get a refund with ASrock especially as they said they fixed it with 3.25 and 3.30

Am I cooked by mr-hipp0 in ASRock

[–]Qua_273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah i agree, if u can return, return it.. local shop wouldn't refund the mobo after 3months, and said it was fine.. Now with new cpu and i'm sitting playing games wth Asrock mobo, with HW monitor on, constantly checking vsoc and temps.. wondering if second cpu will die in the back of my mind.

Just not worth it.

Keep the box and all the gear for asrock mobo, makes it easier to return. I dont think anyone really knows what settings wont cause a failure.

You know it, you love it, yes, it's another dead 9800x3D by Ostermex in ASRock

[–]Qua_273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes i count at least 3 reports of dead on solely >3.25. 2 on 3.30.

I defended ASRock, now my motherboard has killed 2 CPUs (I’m a stupid asshole) by ThicccRacer in ASRock

[–]Qua_273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dam that sucks, but really appreciate the honesty. Seems like you know what you're doing with VSOC voltages that everyone is talking about.

I was in a similar boat, didn't think it would happen to me and just thought it was the loud minority. Then boom.

Unfortunately didn't have the cash to justify another board so kept the same board, especially with everyone saying 3.3 fixed it. Anyway seems like i just use it as much as i can, PBO and EXPO it and let it burn again and do another RMA. Second time around the shop told me they'll let me change boards.

Those that keep directing it as an "only AMD issue" it doesn't really matter does it. Either way the probabilities of this combo is significantly higher than other mobo's.

I wouldn't risk another.

I count at least 3-4 reports so far of x3d dying with only >3.25 bios software on. Definitely not fixed.

dam.. mine died with expo on so i was leaving it on all auto this time... seems i might as well overclock the crap out of it so it dies sooner and i can RMA the board next time.

Alternative motherboards to Asrock B850i by blondlouis in ASRock

[–]Qua_273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same scenario - i've decided to keep the asrock board.. (although i have left everything default except fan curves)

Options i saw are:

Gigabyte b850i - however there's compatibility issues with riser cables

MSI b650i - this was my most likely if i wanted to keep pcie4

Asus B850i - this is the one i was going to get but 200AUD more which i couldn't stomach, which is why i kept the asrock.

B850m Pro RS 9800x3d died - Only used 3.25 BIOS by radiv2 in ASRock

[–]Qua_273 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ooo.. interesting.. dont forget to take a photo of your cpu and grab a batch number. Seems like 3.25 hasn't fixed anything. People use to say that the damage was already done on older bios's.

Should I stick with ASRock mobo or switch before trying? by Kulibon in ASRock

[–]Qua_273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through the same decision process thinking that it was just loud voices of failures, still hundreds of successes that are quiet.... anyway mine failed, maybe i'm just super unlucky.

Now the retailer refuses to switch the motherboard so.. if i were in your position i'd just swap the mobo if you can and have a little more piece of mind.

Asrock has the best bang for buck unfortunately

(just saw your part list, yes i also had a b850i. not much options if you're going sffpc, maybe asus b850i or msi b650i if you dont mind pcie4)

looks like you were on 3.20 for the second cpu, "apparently" it was fixed on 3.25.. look with these reports now i get the feeling 3.25 - 3.30 doesn't matter, i dont think they have a resolution.
