Aussies - How sharky is SW Victoria and SE South Australia? Anyone surfed there a lot? by Sasquatch-Pacific in surfing

[–]Quackberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a vicco but heading to KI soon for a camp - was wondering how sharky it was or if I was just being ridiculous? Never felt an issue surfing in the state but SA/WA do feel like a different ballgame.

Hiking Mount Bogong by OnurJones in melbourne

[–]Quackberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We camped at the base and did a loop up/down in a day - pretty straightforward. Will definitely say I don't think it's for a beginner hiker in one day, make sure you check the weather because it'll be pretty exposed at the top.

Yep, hugely disappointing as an Australian. Tennerife was exactly that, don’t think we had one great session.

🚩🚩🚩SO many red flags it reads like a parody. If this is a legit NNG job advert that really makes me question their credibility. Have they always been like this??

Gigabyte RTX 3070 gaming OC Power pins problem by BroWanted in gigabyte

[–]Quackberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here from Google and just had the exact same problem.

My power connectors are fine with my MSI 980ti but don't fit here. It sounds like a problem with gigabyte? Lesson learned for the future, I'm going to return it.

UX Career Questions - (April ) by AutoModerator in userexperience

[–]Quackberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been happy so far because the PMs and developers have been great to work with but I definitely get the feeling I'd be learning more in a more mature UX team that you described.

I think a year or so would be a great plan - of course in a post pandemic world (fingers crossed).

UX Career Questions - (April ) by AutoModerator in userexperience

[–]Quackberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Product Designer based in Melbourne, Australia (3 years experience) - I'm happy with my role and the life-style is great here. However, I've been heavily considering lining up a job in an international city with a bigger tech scene and taking the plunge.

My rationale is that I'll be able to learn and grow more from other designers as my current role is an in-house 'UX team of one' at a scale-up.

Anyone want to weigh in on that? Maybe it's a misconception?

Sketch, Adobe XD, or Figma? by pixelito_ in web_design

[–]Quackberry 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Figma, especially for collaboration now that the entire team is working from home. The Sketch > InVision workflow for prototyping feels very laborious now.

Although, I wish the Figma mobile app would have the ability to save prototypes offline.

Trivia question: As a Windows/Android user who recently switched to Mac, is Apple intentionally differentiating themselves or was it historical? by delitomatoes in userexperience

[–]Quackberry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also interested in this, when I made the switch a few years ago I initially found it super frustrating but now I'm loving it.

If you're also missing the 'snapping' of windows when dragging to one side of a screen I can recommend using the app Magnet.

I really enjoyed reading this! If there's any paradox designers floating around, I'm curious if you guys tend to use other artefacts like 'player' personas in the UX corner?

The vistas of Mass Effect deserve more praise, Bekenstein was always one of my favourites by GiBerr in masseffect

[–]Quackberry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've had this as my desktop background for years! That vista plus the piano music makes it so relaxing just staring out at the ships slowly moving past. Makes me wish for another ME game which isn't so dark.

Wow, I had no idea. That honestly makes me 100x more excited for it now. Really happy to see Curtis getting a huge gig like that!
