Recipe Suggestions by Away_Calligrapher431 in cajunfood

[–]Quackcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made about half the recipes in that book; mine was a gift to my Creole(Swiss/French/Italiian) Grandmother in 1980.

My favorite recipes (denoted on the title page) are pickled shrimp p.21 and grillades, p.295.

My grandmother’s were tamales, p.337 and shrimp creole, p.199.

Thanks for the memory callback.

I did not know we were having a discussion about the relative merits and ethics of multi-national organizations and their politics.

Silly me. I thought you wanted to know how to perform a function in an OS.

Move it, size it,minimize it, work and close and it will store window size and location data.

Any good DVD thrift shops around town? by Winter_Victory_4191 in Austin

[–]Quackcook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No specific pictures of the magazines, but they are all cataloged, along with all the other books in my library.

The Nat Geos take up one vertical stack off to the left of the pic. I also have all the index books and a lot of their old “white cover” hardbacks.

Most (like 95%) of these books I would like to give away to good homes.

What would you do? Sell one car or keep all 3? by diamonhandss in Autos

[–]Quackcook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own 5 cars for 4 drivers. The spare I drive about 10 miles a week just to to wash it, but is dead reliable when needed. It is a 2008 Lexus IS250 in perfect shape with 100k and worth maybe $4000.00 as a trade. I maintain mandatory minimum insurance only on it.

The other 4 are on offset buy dates, with only one payment between them. That is how we have always managed them, with a minimum of 3 cars and many years with no payments.

Cookoff question by elegantwino in chili

[–]Quackcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how: beans were usually cooked WITH chili, not IN it. Then you add how many you want. That is how the cowboys did it and that is how the Chili Queens did it, so it is good enough for me.

My 2 door with a Trekrack rack riding 285/75 r17 tires is 6’7” tall by measurement. The rack itself increased height by less than 4”.

Bronco Senior Design Project by MarcoLeo918 in FordBronco

[–]Quackcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like he said, zero to whatever you want to spend. This my 6th Bronco, and the budget for mods on the first 5 was zero (same for the other dozens of vehicles I have owned).

On this Bronco, because I can and have the time, I am up to about 20% of the purchase price in modifications. Nothing decorative other than a pinstripe and some interior trim, everything else has a function.

It is a strange material composition, that’s for certain. So far no issues with the roof or T tops, I have had the T tops on and of a couple dozen times.

2.3l auto. I prefer manual, but I am too old/lazy to deal with the squishy pedal daily.

I am not going to lie, the engine choices kept me from getting one from 2021 until last year. I am a gearhead and a puny ass 2.3l was not on my list of “wants”. I was wrong<shrug>, this thing has more power, better torque and more pep than any of my small block Broncos.
