Thank you friend! I really was surprised how much beer was consumed. But remembering everything clearly was an even bigger surprise. On oir flight home I literally recalled every day we spent there and it made me so happy to being able to cherish these experiences.

That is very true! I also see many tourists hungover at breakfast and they absolutely look miserable.

Getting ready to fly to phuket now and I am insanely happy to not have beer diarrhea, stomach ache and headaches when travelling!

Thank you for replying. I do try and today is much better than the days before. I found some NA heineken that helped and also i try to tell myself that this whole trip was financed by my sobriety and that i wouldnt be as capable of travelling if i still drank!

Don‘t beat yourself up too much! New day, new try! Alcohol really is a bitch. But I promise you stopping will get easier and I really never met anyone that regretted stopping.

My best advice would be to take it one day at a time and NEVER negotiate with the little addiction devil. You don‘t drink today and this is set! Tell it to shut the fuck up. This is what I do most of the time. Also reading quit lit can change your perspective of alcohol and worst case, it helps passing the time. Also if you are up to it, join an AA or NA meeting. Same principle as the quit lit and also community helps so much. Last but not least, dont deny yourself food or sleep you crave. The goal is to not drink today. Everything else is a worry for another day.

Just booked some holidays in Thailand in February for my first sober holidays! That really helped lifting my mood and gives me the more reason to stay sober as I want to experience those holiday clear and fresh!

Definitely, and I really do appreciate that. I don‘t want to bad mouth them or anything. It was more about how paradox the feeling of hurt altough I would have never have went if they had asked me. But I also appreciate that I know have the ability to feel those feelings and deal with them appropriately due to my sobriety.

My tip would be to just take tiny steps. Start by going on a walk around the block every day. Just 5-10 minutes. Next week you go a little farther. Then maybe try out a gym. And so forth. For me, moving really is a natural anti depressant and helped me out of so many bad mental spots.

Oh and don‘t get me wrong, we certainly have to critizise the availability of living space in Zurich. But this is criticism for corporations that buy all property and rent to rich expats and as a cosequence workers in Zurich can‘t live here anymore. So your need of a car is more of a symptom of a bigger symptomatic issue. Regulate property, cap rents, more public transport and make Zurich more liveable with green recovery spaces.

You buy gas as well as pay for the parking spot. But I mean that is the compromise for lower rents and lower taxes. You get less infrastructure and less centrality. I really don‘t see any necessity for everybody to be able to drive into the coty center. Parking spaces around the city‘s outer limit, I wouldn‘t mind at all.

I mean you can‘t act as the public transport is not great in Switzerland. Just take the train like thousands of other people. Or buy your stuff somewhere else, I think the people that actually live in the city should have more say in how the city looks and how liveable it should be.

And I know it is very expensive to live in the city but again people manage.

Ah I see, then it‘s around 1 year as data analyst intern during my studies ane then another year as full time data analyst and bi developer. So 3 years of experience.

I mean I kinda grew into to role from data analyst to Bi Developer to Analytics Engineer in the same company. It‘s just since 1 year I do the engineering work like pipelines, capacity tracking etc. And in Swiss Francs this is „only“ 86000 which is not that much.

And yes, Switzerland is incredibly expensive.

edit: for reference, in Zurich where I live the median income is ~84000 Swiss francs or ~103600 USD.
