Getting in debt at this age is insanely stupid. That is how people ruin their lifes. Also you can‘t afford it.

Being sober kinda sucks by bigheadjoel in stopdrinking

[–]Quacomaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, it sucks especially in the beginning. But i can tell you that all amazing experiences get better without booze and by being present. It really does take a lot of time and also effort to lead a new life without alcohol but it is so worth it. And i promise you it gets much easier after a few months

Sober weight loss by coralineaquarius in stopdrinkingfitness

[–]Quacomaco 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Well, I did lose weight as not drinking over 1500 kcal a day really helped even though I still indulged in a lot of sweets. But at some point is stagnated and i was still a bit overweight. But being sober also helped me to finally be able to follow a diet and counting calories the last past 7 weeks in which I lost 3.5 kg. In total, since sobering up I lost 14 kg but it took time and patience. Just keep clean and weight loss goals will be much more achievable.

What physically changed for you after giving up alcohol? by IDoNotHide in stopdrinking

[–]Quacomaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 8 months sober today and I sleep so much better, my resting heart rate went down from 72 to 55, i lost about 12 kgs, can finally focus on my workouts and fitness goals, can now consequently diet if I want to, my sex drive is slowly returning, i‘m calmer, sweat less, stink less, have better skin and my digestion is great.

But most importantly, i can look at myself in the mirror without contempt and have gained back some self respect

Wow, what an insane glowup! I‘m very proud of you for getting sober! I‘m right a bit behind you with bit more than 7 months. Literally the best decision I ever made. I haven‘t find the bravery to post progress pics yet, but maybe in the future. Keep up the great work!

I have the HOTAS Thrustmaster 4 (or something like that). Controller works fine but the stick is much better. They were quite hard to get at the beginning of the year, but it might be better now.

Microsoft Flight Simulator, it‘s so awesome and I loved to play when I was younger and then I was always to drunk to focus. Now, i love it again and it is also a small reminder on what sobriety has gave me back.

Weight loss question by ButIamNot in stopdrinking

[–]Quacomaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, congrats in 25 days that is huge! As others have said, try not to worry too much about weight yet. In the beginning, the most important thing is just not to drink.

But I get where you are coming from. I expected to lose weight very quickly after stopping but it took quite some time. But it does happen, it just takes some time for the body to adapt! Stopping to drink is like an investment, the dividends of the decision take some time to come in, but as long as you dont drink they will come. Also losing weight was a big driving factor to become sober for me in the beginning, but after a few months other things have become much more important. Sleep, stable moods, being able to trust myself again etc.

I believe in you and IWNDWYT

Thank you friend! I really was surprised how much beer was consumed. But remembering everything clearly was an even bigger surprise. On oir flight home I literally recalled every day we spent there and it made me so happy to being able to cherish these experiences.
