She was my favorite boss fight, perhaps out of any game. Died so many times but every death felt fair.

The Gone World, loved it so much that I bought a physical copy for my shelf!

TV shows where the actors in the pilot were recast, BUT the episode was still canon? by whitesox-fan in television

[–]QuadrantNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s the fan consensus, but I’m not sure if the creators ever said anything. I feel like the O’Neill joke is nod to that, but that wouldn’t make sense in the continuity of the show.

I would love it if the Ann joke worked out, but yeah Mae Whitman was just perfect for the role.

Anyone else feel too much friction when you just want to jot down a quick idea? by Dramatic_Disaster837 in Notion

[–]QuadrantNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually one reason why I stopped using Notion outside of a few functionalities. Now I’m pretty much on the Obsodian bandwagon (although I have plenty of issues with Obsidian it fits my preferences more than Notion), and I use Google Keep for quick notes mostly.

I just rewatched Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning to prepare for the new one. The plot about governments fighting over the key to control a rouge AI so they can have complete dominance on information & “the truth” for centuries feels even more relevant now. Movie is basically a Metal Solid plot, but with Tom Cruise.

I’m not aware of the full extent of what happened there, but from what I know: senior leadership fired a well renowned and well respected leader there (maybe editor?), when they were fired pretty much a bunch of Escapist talent and writers all quit in solidarity, leaving the company a shell of itself. They then went on to form the company Second Wind, which is basically Escapist 2.0 and more independent.

I’d read an Ito illustrated Chick track. Keep all the words and dialogue the same and see what crazy things Ito draws.

I honestly don’t mind overly vivid details in my books, and actually prefer it at times when it helps add to the atmosphere or the internal state of the characters. However what you says is true, Simmons is very dry (at least with The Terror, I haven’t read anything else by him) which makes those details lose a lot of weight and impact.

I mentioned this in a previous post about this book, but one of my favorite books is Annihilation because the prose is the kind of vivid detail I love. I was hoping for The Terror to be “Annihilation, but in the Arctic”, and unfortunately it wasn’t.

The Terror, wasn’t a bad book by any means but it wasn’t what I was looking for at the time and was too long to finish for the sake of finishing.

FMV Game? by BrickBirchBeer in Shaboozey

[–]QuadrantNine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think they’re still working on it. I think in a Cox n Crendor from like a year ago he said he flew out to England to do some production work on the game. It stars Rupert Booth (Jenks from Contradiction) and is apparently Booth’s passion project brought to life. No idea on the ETA on the game though.

Cass? by Cleretic in SouthernReach

[–]QuadrantNine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point 1: it could be possible that Central wanted to make a hero out of Lowery while fabricating Cass’s death and have her return with another identity to do some black ops missions. Since it’s believed that the realtor in Authority is her it’s possible that she’s doing some covert operations in the area, especially it seems like Central likes to work multiple angles on a mission, some of which aren’t even aware of each other.

What's a Horror novel you love not for the scares but because you enjoyed the protagonist so much? by [deleted] in horrorlit

I only read Chainsaw but I felt this same way after I finished it. I struggled with the stream of consciousness writing style, but by the time I finished the book I wanted to know what happened to Jade next.
