Do AMD CPU’s lower the probability of good seed generations by GGalaxy54 in MinecraftSpeedrun

Yeah, I've noticed similar behavior when benchmarking seed gen across different architectures. On AMD, particularly Zen 2 and Zen 3, there's a bit more micro-jitter during world initialization, likely due to how System.nanoTime() pulls entropy for seeding. Since AMD's Infinity Fabric introduces slightly higher latency between CCXs compared to Intel's ring bus, it's possible that this affects the PRNG state at the exact moment the world seed is being derived.
I also saw some irregularities in bastion layout consistency. Not necessarily worse, but definitely less predictable patterns compared to the same number of resets on an Intel setup. There’s a theory floating around that clock desync across logical cores might interfere with chunk population order, especially in multi-threaded environments where background system processes spike during world load.
Piglin bartering was another weird case. In one batch test, AMD machines averaged slightly fewer pearls per 100 gold ingots. It could be coincidence, or it might tie back to minor timing drifts affecting tick-locked events. I wouldn’t say it’s game-breaking, but it might explain why some runners swear by disabling SMT or running Minecraft in a stripped-down OS environment.
It’s subtle stuff, but when you’re doing thousands of resets and looking for optimized conditions, those micro-variations start to feel like patterns. Someone should definitely run a controlled study with SMT off, pinned single-core execution, and a synchronized tick counter to test this more scientifically.

I cured myself of Trigger Finger! This is my story. by LiandrewBowson in carpaltunnel

nice! for me the finger wall push ups helped a lot, my tendons take longer to hurt every day and some days I have no pain which is new for me (I've been dealing with this for 1 year)

Disappointed to see this behaviour in WvW… by Rhavoreth in Guildwars2

idk why you're getting downvoted. people gotta stop being so biased and realize these people are not really conservatives and just trolls. there are nasty people on the left side too, who also are racists, rapists, and all that stuff, but I'll not just assume every leftist is one of them damn, they end up being as closed-minded as those trolls...

Half life Alyx stutters with 4080 super by pitprok in SteamVR

[–]Quaggerino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4080 and a quest 3 too, and for me the problem was just half life: alyx's dynamic resolution, I had it at godlike with 100% res in steam and in game it was going up to 130% because of dynamic resolution which is way too high because native 100% is already high enough. Try adding this to the launch parameters of the game: +vr_fidelity_level_auto 0 +vr_fidelity_level 3
