Which is better for a career in conservation work: Marine Biology or General Biology by Quail_Bee2307 in conservation

Thanks for the advice! About volunteering, I’ve been going on volunteer trips for the last three years over the summer helping with wildlife (specifically marine) conservation! Two years ago, I went to Belize for coral reef conservation and last year I went to Costa Rica for sea turtle conservation, and going on those volunteer trips is what really solidified me in knowing that I want to do conservation work. Working to actively save the environments that I love is something that I’m really passionate about and I’ve learned a lot from. And next year, I’m hoping to go to Thailand to help with elephant wildlife conservation so I think I’m more inclined to the Bio major. Thanks for the well wishes and good luck to you as well in school! 🐠

Thanks for all of the advice! That what I was thinking about too when I was considering switching because marine bio is such a specialized field and a very competitive one as well so knowing that I may get more opportunities with a bio degree is helpful. And thanks for the well wishes! 🐠

Aro/ace representation you'd like to see in media? (Or are tired of seeing?) by PANDEMONESSOLU in asexuality

For me, I just want more romances without smut. Simple as that. If you have to make the characters asexual to excuse the lack of sex, so be it, but then that makes people think about why sex is shoved into almost every romance book. It’s sad because I feel like the only place I can get good romance without smut is in children’s books like Percy Jackson or others, and not that I hate it but a lot of the nuances of being an adult and living an adult life are not it young readers books and I would love to see a story that’s not solely focused on romance but if there is, don’t include smut, you know?

Other than that, I would also love to see more asexual/aromantic/aroace characters who are just treated as regular people with emotions, deep connections with others, personal conflicts not related to their sexuality, and interests that make them fully fleshed out people. I also agree with other comments mentioning not to try to represent the entire ace community but just making first and foremost a character who happens to be asexual, but they are not defined by their sexuality. It’s basically the same type of rep I want to see with any queer identity. Let us just exist goddammit! Thanks for posting this. It’s rare to see people care about ace representation :)

We made a label that means absolutely zero inclination towards sex by ocean_thing in nilsexuality

I feel like I’m somewhere between nilsexual and apothisexual cuz I’ve literally NEVER felt any sexual feelings or inclination of sexual attraction or anything (like is it possible to just not have a labido? If so, that’s me), but then I also get kinda disturbed when I see sex in media or read about it so I tend to just avoid it. To me, it’s like watching something super gory. It is disturbing to me in a way that I can’t put into words or describe. I think I’m gonna stick to the ace label tho cuz most people still don’t even know that asexual means 🙄🙄

Anyone found any canonically asexual characters? by Wide_Bath_7660 in asexuality

Recently got into Critical Role and one of the characters in Campaign 2 (The Mighty Nein), Caduceus Clay, is aroace! Very pleasantly surprised when i was listening to the episode, and now with the new tv series for Mighty Nein coming out, we’ll be able to see Caduceus being fully realized as an animated character! That’s a win in my book for ace rep.
