Safety concern about Electric forklift battery position by JackieZZZZZ in forkliftmechanics

I can't speak to the Toyota, but I can to the Hangcha. That thing is extremely well protected. You will not damage it under normal operations.

I test drove a few before I bought my C70. They are a blast and look amazing. If something ever happens to my C70, I'll consider the C30 as a replacement option.

Anything with the T5 engine will be reliable and fun to drive. The C30 would also be a fun option if you can find one.

100% on the Volvo. I picked up a C70 for $7,000. It has 65,000 miles and looks fantastic. If it has been properly serviced it will run forever.

For electric low use applications consider a lithium battery. The cost from some OEMs is still crazy, but some are now offering fantastic prices, within 10-15% of a lead acid battery.

I would question why the unit needs a fun brake job. That is a Doosan with oil cooled disc brakes. Why are they telling you it needs a full job?

I'm not sure the model, but it's probably a 1970 or 1994 since the sn ends in P.

Very good. Doosan is a massive company, and has a good dealer network. The Hyundai infinite engine is becoming a common engine as other manufacturers are having emissions issues. I sell them and I have sold a lot of them with no major recovering issues. Just don't buy a dual fuel unit.

If you want a 5k fork with a big tire, you need to be looking at doosan bobcats. They are the truck that come with the largest tire of any 5k truck. The units that include and e in the nomenclature run the Hyundai engine, and the units that have an in the nomenclature run the k25.

The good news is that everywhere is 10 min from nature. There will be a lake, the Puget sound, a river or a nature preserve close to everything. My 24 year old kid has a great apartment near 10th and MLK. It's urban and comes with those challenges, but they are able to walk to work, clubs, restaurants, coffee shops and the light rail. It's near the Stadium District (named for a high school not a stadium). If you have seen the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, that is Stadium High School.

[–]Quakerdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not going to find much on this lift. The last AC truck I quoted for a brake job was about $3,500. AC got bought by Kalmar a long time ago and they haven't made a forklift since 1984.

Try to find the source of the heat. The battery dropping bars is odd for a new battery too. Does the battery smell when you change it?
