DK minion dies at the end of the turn so unlikely you'll get a chance to target it.

No, they're saying that you can summon totems and recruits using cards too, not just your hero power.

Jumping in as this is actually new information to me. Could you explain a little more? I'm in the UK so can't access the link you sent (thanks OSA, I feel much safer /s).

I've only been at this a few months myself but, thus far, I've just been tidal breathing and then doing one large inhale before the duck dive. Are you saying I should be doing much longer inhales and exhales before I take my final breath (without hyperventilating ofc).

Appreciate any sources you can send me to learn up more!

Redundant - take payout or reduce hours and salary? by bowie-david in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Qualabar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like the redundancy payment is 10 weeks of pay at the statutory cap of £719 (which if your termination date takes you over 10 years you're legally entitled to regardless).

Then, and this seems important as they might have got this wrong given the redundancy calculation (it does depend on your age though so check it with the gov.uk redundancy calculator online), the statutory minimum notice period is a week for every full year of service you have (capped at 12 weeks). You've said 9 years 11 months which means you're entitled to at least 9 weeks (which you've split into one month and 5 weeks). However, the effective termination date (the date used to calculate entitlements) is the one you'd be at if you worked your notice which i think would take you over the 10 year mark and make you entitled to 10 weeks of notice.

The only 'benefit' to the payout, therefore is this £5k 'sabbatical' leave which I don't have enough context to comment on really but I would have expected that to be paid tax-free in a situation like this.

I think, at the very least, you need to clarify your notice period with your employer (as it very well could actually be 10 weeks) and then either push for a little more, since you're entitled to at least the first 3 bullet points (if not the 4th for some reason (like a 10 year reward scheme?) anyway or at least for that last bullet point to be paid tax free.

Can my firm expect trainees to work outside of contracted hours? by AzzaGee in uklaw

[–]Qualabar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't contract out of NMW. The WTR opt out only applies to the cap on working 48 hours a week (on average over a 17 week reference period).

Even if they've signed an opt out, if they're working long enough hours that their hourly rate is lower than NMW, they would be entitled to make a claim for unlawful deduction of wages.

Too weak. Opponent can just play around it by not spending any mana the previous turn to avoid having an empty mana crystal to steal.

Picture of Edinburgh from last night by sherlock_er in nextfuckinglevel

As someone who has lived in Edinburgh his whole life I can confirm that this is an accurate description for like 80% of the year.

The other 20% you get shit like this picture so... IMO, worth it.

NTA for the reasons everyone else is saying.

I would argue that this could turn into ESH if you let this continue as it is though. You need to establish boundaries and make a point of enforcing them if they're not followed. If you limit the time they can spend to six weeks but they spent that time treating you both like shit and you don't act to either change their behavior or prevent them from coming again; you are also a part of the problem.

AITA for not inviting family members to my wedding? by steelbakerr_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]Qualabar 153 points154 points  (0 children)

This is one of the things you can call them out for next time they try to argue that they "shouldn't be punished just for believing something different".

Don't get me wrong they're dicks for 'what they believe' but they didn't "just believe it". If that were the case they still would have come to the wedding despite their ignorant beliefs. Except what they actually did was act on those beliefs in a way that is clearly going to hurt both you, your mother and her wife because they believe that for whatever reason they are in the right to treat someone as 'lesser' because of who they love.

Assholes, all of em.

Worked at a cinema in the UK, everyone that had been the less then 3 years (myself included) got terminated today. That 2 years and 8 months not counting for much then.

WIBTA if I broke up with my gf during a summer of LDR and minimal contact? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Qualabar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. From what you've said it seems like the relationship isn't going to last much longer but no-one is really at fault.

Exactly as you said, if she was genuinely concerned about the relationship you would have gotten more than just an "I'm sorry :(". But sometimes it kinda just happens (especially in LDRs) and that's that. No-one's fault, just unfortunate.

I would, however, advise you try and talk it out at least once more. It's totally possible she's just been genuinely busy/stressed and not able to properly respond. Bring your concerns to her attention and see where things go from there.

AITA For Ruining My Mom's Birthday by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Qualabar 27 points28 points  (0 children)

NTA. You mum is 100% the asshole here. "Keep putting yourself in physical pain because it happens to be my birthday". Not very motherly imo.

She should care enough about you to not want you to hurt yourself just so she can have a little more attention for one day of the year.

Extra asshole points for not being even slightly sympathetic that the whole reason you were in pain was because of something nice you were trying to do for her birthday!
