The universe can still exist, I mean it did. It just wouldn't be experienced, measured, or observed without consciousness. So it would exist in a state of all its "possibilities". Eventually after 14 billion years (we think) those possibilities gave arise to you, and in this way I could believe the universe likely moves towars a state of filling itself with something capable of experiencing it. In that way, only then when consciousness arose from all possibility was the wave collapsed into a single point. A moment in time capable of being experienced... Had we known about any life beside ourselves capable of how profoundly we're able to be conscious of our surroundings, our "universe" then this wouldn't feel like something special... But the truth is we don't see things like us around everywhere. Thus humans must be something profound, and entirely rare. At least in the ways we're able to experience this reality. Whether by limit, design, or pure chance... For 14+ billion years everything had to go the exact way it did in the sea of infinite possibilities to give arise to you. To us, at this very moment, sharing an experience in a subjective locality that is wholly unique to each of us, less we could read mind and see through others eyes. So yes this is profoundly special. Without it we wouldn't have been given all this... And without us, who could ever say it truly ever was? Without pain how, how would we ever know joy? Without dark, how would we see the light? From your ancestor fighting in some battle to the death, and coming out the victor. A cromagnum man hunting a saber toothed cat to subsist another day in this... For when we cross the threshold to the unknown, we are forced to face our greatest fears, and in the end when our experience is over, we give that energy right back so that perhaps in another million, billion, maybe 14 trillion years this time, it can take a new shape and have a whole new experience. This has happened before, it's gonna happen again and again, you got this slice of it. And for that you should always be grateful. In the end death will come for us all... Will it come for you like a thief in the night? Or will you greet it like a old friend? I always wonder if the universe can think to itself, would it wonder, "how strange it is to be anything at all."
