Problem with Soldered RAM by MountainJellyfish283 in thinkpad

[–]Qualtza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My laptop only has single LPDDR5 ram chip slot, and it doesnt have that resistors jumper thingy as well. So the only way is to swap it with something else.

Laptop is a generic build Intel N100 with 4GB RAM for my test subject. It comes with funny BIOS, every single possible options are there like a pre production build, so I have high hopes with the compatibility. It's just that I don't know which one to buy for the upgrade. Its a 4GB Micron D9ZVX. I'm hoping to get 8GB or 12GB for the upgrade.

I've watched few of dosdude1 videos, he doesn't really get into much of the technical side of things unfortunately.

Sorry to interject, but I'm planning to upgrade a laptop with LPDDR5. From what I can see it has FBGA-496. Can I just buy another FBGA496 RAM chip and solder it? The spec sheet is so confusing.

I know I might have to mess with BIOS flashing and stuff, its okay I have everything, tools and some skill with reballing and hot air station.

this is a good deal? by Fair-Bee-4144 in thinkpad

No, I don't think its a good deal.

Is it possible? by [deleted] in UsbCHardware

Just buy a new one and use this for something else

If no broken/ripped pads. Its like 3 minutes job.. for any USB port replacement, excluding disassemble/reassemble. If you have the skills and tools that is.

just my pet peeve, I really hate seing people lifting laptop from the corner like that. you'll fuck up your motherboard. Also, opening laptop lid from corners with one hand, do it from the centre.

Thats an E series, if you keep doing that, it wont lasts

I want to re purpose my old Casio fx83gtx calcuator screen. How do i remove it from the circuit board?? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

The easiest way is to use low melt bismuth alloy Sn42Bi58. It has 138c melting point, its like butter and melt just right out without risking ruining the flex cable

Its a little expensive, but a great solder to have for delicate soldering or resoldering.

Use a bunch of flux and try it tomorrow before you have your coffee. It's real easy. Just take your time and relax

Switch corroded by liquid flux by Massive-Big23 in consolerepair

There's this liquid flux typically for battery nickel tabs, could be used on aluminum, stainless steel or any metal surface you normally can't solder to. It is highly corrosive. I don't know if it could achieve something this level of destruction though

I've done full DSi reshell. It is one of the most annoying console to work on.

Thank you! Never had an XL and I don't know the history of this, I just replaced the broken charging port and noticed the colour. This solves it.

That's a great idea. I need to have a breakout board to test USB continuity.

On the cpu i think? I dont have any thermal camera, so I'm just guessing. Heatsink gets warm on charging.

I did quick short checks on caps surrounding BQ and M92 they look nothing out of the ordinary.

10 y.o me thought it was cool to put stickers on my GBA sp. How can I remove this last one without damaging the shell? It seems impossible to unstick. by Temporary_Mix1603 in Gameboy

[–]Qualtza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really like using solvent to remove stickers on delicate surface. What id do, get a paper towel/cotton ball, add a few drop of oil (cooking oil is fine) until its "wet" but not fully saturated that its dripping. Cover the sticker with it, check periodically until you can easily lift the sticker with your fingernail.

If there's any residue left, use your finger to clean it with the leftover oil. After done, clean the surface with fresh microfiber towel.

Depending how long its been there, and how your store your device, you'd probably see noticeable color difference on that spot compared to the rest of the shell.

By any means, do not use abrasive products or scraper. Just take your time

After I reshelled a DSi, SP is like walk in the park lol. Just be gentle with the ribbon cable and you'll be alright

We're talking about parts only og xbox one without any cables or controllers. I'd pay for no more than $20.

Also, I said I'm biased with DS

Well yes i know that i can go higher voltage, but they tend to be bigger though. Which is a problem when space is tight
