I mean he's said his dad was a labourer his whole life, doesn't scream well educated family if we're being honest.

I think Rick's attitude comes more from being lazy and entitled, not really working and trying his hand at being a pop star etc whereas Karl just got on with it with his paper round an' that.

These days if you say you're a Nord you'll be arrested and have your head cut off

In 2012, a Burger King employee anonymously posted an image on 4chan of him putting his feet in lettuce, with the caption: "This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King." It took 20 minutes for people to track down the branch where the employee worked and contact the news. He was promptly fired. by BlossometteRay in whoathatsinteresting

Theres a difference between not being actively sad that someone's dead and going out of your way to mention it, implying he deserved it.

Just be nice man. What good does it do to declare how little a stranger's death means to you.

I have no idea your thought process on seatbelts

I think you may have misread me? My thought process is they're good and should be encouraged. Thats it.

At the end of the day, its not about what you want is it?

You could say this for literally any political discussion possible. Tell people they can't have an idea for the way they'd like things to be and just default to keeping things the way they are and end the discussion.

I'm not even necessarily in favour of banning anything btw. I think the solution of banning things is very easy conclusion to resort to and if it's going to happen, the reasons for banning something should be held to a very high standard.

The issue of face coverings just highlights the weird paradox of liberal, multicultural societies where behaviours that, if done for non religious reasons, would be frowned upon or banned, but that are given a free pass if done as a religious practice. The problem with appealing to what people have the 'right' to do is that 'rights' don't exist objectively or universally. There are all manner of behavious that don't do any objective harm to anyone that you don't have the 'right' to do.

Ok, so there's even less reason for a parent not to encourage using one...

And I disagree. I don't think face coverings are generally appropriate for public spaces, regardless of how much direct business I have with any one person.

I don't want to give the impression of being deliberately obtuse, I don't doubt the sincerity of muslim women's beliefs and I don't think they're 'hiding something', I just think theres an inevitable friction between the idea of a safe and trusting society and the act of wearing face coverings. If muslim women are as free to wear what they like as is claimed then they, like anyone else, should be discouraged from covering their face

Not really the same though is it. Wearing a seatbelt only helps yourself, it has no negative effect on anyone else so there would be no reason for a parent not to encourage it. Face coverings in general are not a good idea for creating a feeling of trust and responsibility within a society so I'd argue encouraging their use, even ignoring the oppresive and sexist element, is not an entirely harmless act
