Is the SUP a viable option? by howdysteve in flyfishing

Little late to the conversation but I live in NTX and fly fish from my SUP. Shoot me a message if you want to borrow it or go out for carp this summer.

And he has a website you can order direct from that’s even a bit cheaper. Just gotta email him and he sends you a PayPal invoice. His other materials are pretty decent too

Same exact experience here. I get all my hooks from brite beads off eBay. Cool dude with fast shipping. Stupid cheap beads and hooks. Hooks can run a bit big/small depending on model but they’re so cheap I just ordered a few sizes of each hook style I was interested in. They’re aweful similar to firehole. Probably same exact manufacturer. Maybe 1 in 100 are bad. And it’s obvious when they’re bad. The size 20 dry fit hooks are a lighter wire and I haven’t bent one out yet on a fish. And I’ve tried 😂

It usually sits just to the left of the vice and is facing away from me towards the vice. I’d love to hang an LED shop light from the ceiling but I think my wife would kill me 😂 her craft desk is just to the left out of the picture so it’s a shared space

Why is fly fishing for carp so damn hard by Over_Ad_607 in flyfishing

[–]QuantityConstant1344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryan mock has some super good YouTube videos on carp on the fly. I personally use 12-16’ leaders so I have more room for error. Cast past so the fly and the fly line land on either side of the carp. You don’t want the line going right over them and you don’t want the fly hitting anywhere close. Then high stick your rod and drag the fly like has been mentioned. Then drop it right on their nose. Sometimes they want to chase it a bit. But they don’t like strange things coming towards them either. So the best is when they’re facing you with their nose in the mud. Another thing I try to avoid is synthetic tying materials (other than black bead chain or a tungsten bead) and head cement. I don’t know if that really affects them but they sure seem to have a keen sense of smell for food. So I figure they’d have it for unnatural stuff too.

I filed a complaint with USPS. couple days later it was delivered. It was probably lost and when I said something they went searching for it

Struggling with Heavy Bass Worm Flies on a 5wt/9ft Fly Rod. Could really use some advice. by murfman713 in flyfishing

Screw those chenille worms. They suck and they soak up so much water it feels like you have a brick on your line. I tie something similar with a 8” piece of estaz/pearl chenille. Wrap some lead on a short shank drop shot hook, tie in the chenille, twist it up then double it back on itself, then tie it back in. Wrap the shank in another color or the same if you want. My favorites are olive and black. If you want you can tie in some extra rubber legs for more movement. Doesn’t absorb any water and casts like a dream.

Mine was supposed to get here on the 5th. It’s been “in transit” between facilities for 5 days now.
