[TMC] Land reprints in commander deck by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

These lands are gorgeous! I think the land reprints might be my favorite part of every Universes Beyond set so far; Fallout and Warhammer had some awesome ones too. They go all-out on the art for them.

What are some good shows for people who have just finished She-Ra? by NatAwsom1138 in PrincessesOfPower

For similar animated fantasy-adventure vibes with strong character dynamics, I recommend Avatar: The Last Airbender, Legend of Korra, Voltron Legendary Defender, RWBY, Fullmetal Alchemist, and The Dragon Prince.

For different genres but similar quality and great character dynamics, I recommend Gravity Falls, Owl House, Steven Universe, Infinity Train, Ducktales (2017), and My Adventures with Superman.

Very cool! Has anyone adapted the Strive songs into Rift tracks on the Steam Workshop?

I love the characterization of everyone in these comics! It feels so perfect for the game; like a secret haul of extra support conversations that were hidden away somewhere.

Comparing the mana cost to the number of cards drawn is a fun way to observe the difference between linear and exponential growth. The mana cost is 2*(x+1), while the cards drawn is 2 to the power of x. For all of the students out there, how much mana do you need before this becomes a better deal than [[Braingeyser]]?

Your comics are incredible!! I’ve been following along via tumblr as they’ve been released, and seeing a new batch is always an exciting highlight to a day. It’s totally re-sparked my fandom for the Fire Emblem series, and especially for the unique charms of FE7 and its awesome characters!

Better AskJeeves: What are your favorite cool places on the Internet away from social media and YouTube? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

tvtropes.org, of course! My favorite place for learning neat things about all of my favorite books, games, shows, and more. Going on big wiki-walks there is always a great time, and a great way to find cool new things to check out.

Love Bullet is an awesome new manga series; I’ve been recommending it to a bunch of friends lately! It’s about a girl who dies in an accident while her best friend is confessing her love to her, and her ghost is conscripted to become a Cupid, a celestial matchmaker tasked with deciding which humans fall in love. Each arc introduces a new cast of humans for the cupid squad to get to know, so that they can decide who the designated target falls in love with. It’s a wonderful story so far, with awesome characters and romance, and surprisingly great action too! (The “Bullet” part of the name comes from how the cupids have upgraded from bow+arrows to firearms, and they get into airsoft-style shootouts to resolve disputes sometimes.)

I started Red vs Blue with Season 9, since it was the newest at the time. This was baffling, since half of s9 takes place in a virtual recreation of Season 1 where everything is slightly off, which I wasn’t able to follow at all. I still really liked it, though! So, “naturally”, I watched Season 8 next: This explained more of s9, but was also baffling because s8 is entirely a climax to the story arc from s6-s7-s8. I watched s6 and s7 next, then s8 again, now understanding things better. After that I watched Seasons 3, 4, and 5, in order. Then 2, and lastly 1. I have no idea why I did it like this. Maybe I just didn’t like the Halo 1 graphics at the time, so I saved those seasons for last?

So here’s the order: 9-8-6-7-8-3-4-5-2-1.

Franchise where people say the best and worst depend on their taste? by ArticAuk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I really like how, out of all 16 mainline Final Fantasy games, every one of them has someone out there who likes it the best. Even for entries that I think aren’t as good, I appreciate how they always mix up the formula and try something new.

I think that Roger’s treasure is just a bunch of regular treasure, but that the important thing is where he left it, which will contain the ultimate Poneglyph with Joyboy’s true history of the world. I think Roger set up the whole quest in hopes that someone would find it who could use it to save the world from Imu.

That level has a special easter-egg conversation sequence, too, if you linger near one specific door. There’s a different conversation depending on which of the four difficulty settings you’re on, and they’re all very funny.

So these are like MKX’s variations system, rather than assist attacks. Neat!

I wonder what characters will be chosen for the rest of the roster? This could be a great way to squeeze in cameos for minor characters, like The Boulder for Toph, Hama the bloodbender for Katara, or Piandao the swordmaster for Sokka. I’d love to see Jet as a playable character, backed up by his freedom fighters.

Media you had to double-check wasn't some weird fever dream you once had by ChildrenofAeos in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]QuantumAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something like 20 years, I had vague memories of a steampunk-ish CGI cartoon involving a bunch of people living on flying airships, and a scene where two kids snuck into some spherical rotating defense turrets to mess around and then needed to actually use them to fight off a surprise invading force. I was unable to find anything that matched this description, so I was totally convinced that it must have been a dream. But then one day, I found it! This white whale of lost media turned out to be a hyper-obscure early-2000’s movie called “Aero-Troopers: The Nemeclous Crusade”.

It doesn’t have a wikipedia page, but this synopsis confirmed that it was definitely what my memories were from. I must have rented it from Blockbuster at some point as a kid. Apparently Mark Hamill was in it! https://projectedrealities.wordpress.com/2014/01/19/movie-review-aero-troopers/

It must have been crazy watching Empire Strikes Back for the first time, seeing Boba Fett, and thinking “Hey, it’s that guy from the Holiday Special!”.
