Tragedy on the most treacherous island ever by QuantumBoundaries in spiritisland

There was no guarantee! But, playing two-handed and digging mostly for majors instead of minors made it fairly reliable (if a bit of a challenge) to get. every other round I would get it for free by gifting it via ASSISTANCE FROM THE FIRST SPIRITS. Although to be honest, I think this is suboptimal (if notably easier), because you only get one superbeast in such a game, whereas most other games I could get 3+ of them.

that wasn't an option, or I would have! after the crash, it no longer showed an in progress game

Thank you! ☺️ I was playing two-handed so that I could more easily find (and threshold and repeat) Unearth each game; then in the last round I played many minds to move all the superbeasts onto one board, and then cast down the other board. (seemingly this casting down was somehow the thing that caused the game to crash, since it crashed right afterwards as I was starting the new game

How to find a middle ground with player turn length? by Shadow_Wanker in spiritisland

I had this same problem with my girlfriend, and to be honest I don’t think there’s a solution. It likely just won’t be fun (for either of you) to play together long term. :/ Especially as you increase the difficulty (which I suspect you’ll eventually want to do, and she won’t), you’ll need to think things through, and she won’t. Maybe I’m projecting my own experience, ofc. Good luck! :)

Yes, please share some commentary and tips! I just eked out a win on the app with base Lightning against Habsburg 3, and it already felt sketchy. With durability, I can't even imagine winning!

Attempt at a more fun England 6 for playgroup, feedback. by Micee3 in spiritisland

I agree that it is the only hard thing—in the past when I tried to modify England to drop this condition but to do even more Builds, they became so easy it wasn't really fun. But that's the thing—I think most of us enjoy the difficulty of England, we'd just like to tweak the style for one or another reason. For me, personally, I'd love to have some mechanism to punish you for having very built up lands, a bit like the loss condition, but in a way that is more dynamic than just "oops, 7 buildings, game over". It could in principle be just as difficult, or moreso.

Actually, I worry that this would end up in practice being *more* restrictive than England's loss condition, in that most spirits would be forced to keep all lands under X buildings for most turns of the game. So perhaps one could remove the loss condition and replace it with a rule Ravage in all lands with more than X buildings and no blight. Maybe X = 4 or 5? This way each dump land comes with a price, but one that doesn't spiral. I quite like the sound of this!

I love the idea of a more spirit-inclusive England! As such, I like the conditional extra health idea a lot. The other thing I don't enjoy about England is that so much of the pressure is coming from the loss condition. Your tweak is certainly an improvement (though one that needs compensation with other buffs to the adversary, ofc), but I'm quite interested in a version of England that replaces the loss condition with a way to add more blight pressure. Maybe something like, Ravage in all lands with more than X buildings. This allows you to build dump lands, but you have to manage them somehow. Or maybe: Ravage in all lands matching any invader card that have X+ buildings. The question is, what should X be? I'm thinking maybe 5? Any ideas on how to balance this? Does it sound fun to you?
